I had my lapband surgery 10/15/10. Lost 67 lbs between surgery day-May 2011, but have since been struggling.  I haven't lost any weight, I've been gaining and losing the same 10 lbs over and over again for the past 7 mos.  I've fallen back into my old eating habits, breaking all the lapband rules :(  For the last 3 mos I've just been craving sweets and I just can't control it,  I joined WW a couple of mos ago, but still not helping, but then again I've only attended 2 meetings in 2 mos.  I just can't get motivated and I don't understand why, I know how badly I want and need to lose the weight so why can't I do these. How do I do this, please help. Any suggestions. Has anyone been through this or going through this right now??  I'm desperate and feeling so depressed, It's the holidays and I just can't get into the holiday spirit. I remember last year  at this time thinking of how exciting this year was going to be, because I was going to be thin, well unfortunately that didn't happen and I have no one to blame but myself.   I'm so frustrated, I keep trying not to be so hard on myself, but really, 50-60 lb weight loss in 14 mos. I'm still  in 260's -270's :(.

WITH GOD, EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Norma you need to take it one day at a time.  (1) Call your doctor (2)tell him what you just told us. You may need to start with a fill.  Then go home get the junk out of the house and start practicing your band rules. You have done a great job so far and you will continue doing good if you let go of the last few months and move on. We have almost all been there and we know what we have to do to make our journey a success for each of us.  Stock up on protein foods that will get you off the sweets. You can do this. feel free so send  me a message any time you need support  I will try to help. You are not alone. Hang in there

Lapband - Jan 2009 weight goal reached with lapband. Revised to VSG- 1/25/16

Norma did you ever have restriction? You were losing good initially. Did you have restriction then and have now lost it? Or was the initial weight loss as a result of diet?

If you had restriction and no longer have it, start getting fills again to see if that will help. If however you never had that and have just lost due to dieting, that makes it a lot harder. I fully understand how hard it is to try to be vigilent about dieting when you have no "tool" to help with this. I LOVE sweets also, and have been having major sugar cravings the last couple of months. I am now up about 5 pounds. This is due to bringing it back into the house. So I will continue to be lax about my diet till after the holidays and then attempt to go back to eating better. Also I think I may have not been keeping my protein level up lately, so I have recently been making the effort to get more protein in.

I can very much relate to your being depressed about your band not working as it should. The only advice I can offer is make sure you have done everything you can to give the band a chance to work. If you have done that, then there comes a time when you just have to realize that the band is not going to work for you as advertised and put forth the effort to do it all on your own. It's HARD. :-( But it is what it is. Just do the best that you can do to work with what you've got...........or don't have.

Good luck!

Norma,  I totally understand how you feel.  Most of my weight loss came before I had the band surgery on 11/10/11.  I have since only lost a little bit.  I am hungry just about all of the time.  I pray that my first fill on Monday will help.  I am still following the plan and exercising to speed up the process.  I agree that it is a good idea to talk to your doctor.  I hope my band has not failed.  I am giving it a chance.  I pray that it works for you.  You can write me anytime.  Michelle.

Norma,

First off you need to give yourself a pat on the back for the weight you have lost !!!  If you really sit down and think about it 67 pounds is alot of weight.  Go put some weights on your back and ankles and stomach all 67 pounds worth and try to carry around that again and you will see how much YOU have accomplished !!! Kudos to you for losing that much.

Second you could be 67 pounds heavier then you are now and even in worse shape so think of it that way also .

Now, I know what you have been going through .  I have done the same thing mine lasted about 5 months and now I'm starting to lose again .

Once you get off track its a ***** to get back on track been there done that and everybody on this board has been in this position also its going to happen and it will probably happen again to us .

You have to make the first steps though and be dedicated to it.  I love Zumba with a passion I think I got the best Zumba instructor in the world.  He cares , he makes it fun and I Love this man to death lol.

I got so lazy the last five months I hit and miss the gym .  The first of this month I rededicated myself and made myself to go.  Oh I hated it (once I got started I was okay ) . I would find every excuse in the book not to get into the car and go , but I did after doing that for a few weeks I'm in a routine now and I'm back to loving my exercise.  I haven't missed a class in two weeks now and I'm picking up some extra classes because I'm having fun again .

Just from picking up my exercise again I can see a change in my eating habits.  I work my ass off in Zumba with dance and weights and I dont want to blow it by eating .

You have to make yourself go to WW and to the meetings. IF that helps you then that is what you have to do.   The band  wont make you do that , no matter what kind of restriction you have .

If you need a fill go get one ,  but  just remember a fill dont help the head games.  It wont make you exercise, it wont make you eat the right foods , it wont make you go to the meetings.  All of them things still have to be up to you .

It's hard to get back on track . I struggled many months with this and it was not fun. I gained and lost the same five pounds during them months.  I just had to put my foot down and make myself go back to exercise, watch what I was eating. I got very lazy in this dept also .

You know what you need to do , you lost 67 pounds you need to get your head back to that same game plan and you will be just fine :o)

Good Luck Norma I know you can do this.  I made it through and I'm back to losing again :o)

steelerfan 1 took the words right out of my mouth. It took me 2 years to Lose 70 pounds so I do know how u feel. I have lost at
turtle speed but i will finish the race. Pre band I was a big meal eater. Post band I became a huge sweets girl. I lived on cookies and candy bars and became very addicted. I still struggle! Once you clean up your diet you will start to enjoy the healthier foods & love the way they make u feel. It's not easy but you just need to get your head back in the game. YOU CAN DO IT!

67 lbs..... wow that is great.  You did mention you are breaking all the lapband rules.  Girl that band wasn't free and you know what you have invested in it.  If you broke something that expensive you would be upset so why let this go to waste?  You know you can do it don't be so hard on yourself but remember you have a tool in-place.  You rock with your 67 lbs off.  You can and will be able to lose more.
