good luck :)
Chinese food can be tricky depending on your level of restriction and tolerance. For me it's usually the vegetables or meat that's too dry. Rice? No way! I love Chinese but have to be VERY careful. Oddly enough I can eat the wontons in wonton soup but generally no other noodles.

Friend me if you want to read my OH blog. There is a lot of info there especially when I was just starting...lists of foods that I eat/ate regularly, my routine, etc.
I sit on my hands whenever I am eating with other people. I get into trouble when I'm talking over a meal. It helps me slow down.
I just had my 3 yr Band anniversary on November 10th. I lost 115 lbs in 9 months and have maintained it withing 10 lbs for 2 years.
As far as not getting stuck...it's going to happen eventually no matter what, but for me it ALWAYs happens when I'm not paying attention, chewing well enough or eating too fast. Over time I've learned what does and doesn't work and there are many foods I just don't eat any more but I don't really feel deprived. With a little work and creativity I can experience any type of food I want with some modifications.
Meats that are too dry, veggies that are too fibrous, soft breads, pastas, etc. tend not to work.
But most importantly, I had to learn that 1/3 cup of food is enough to fill me up and satisfy real hunger. I fought this a lot in the beginning, and still sometimes today, trying to eat more than what fits in my 3-4 oz pouch. It's hard to wrap your brain around when you look at a small portion and believe that you will get enough food to feel full, etc. Physical hunger is no longer a problem. The head hunger is another thing all together. I'm still learning how to work through my tendency to turn to food when I'm bored and for every other emotion under the sun. I highly recommend therapy for ALL of us because controlling what you eat and how much is only the physical answer. There's a whole emotional, mental, addictive side to the disease that must be dealt with to fully gain a healthy lifestyle.
I would also say that I followed a very strict, 800 calorie a day diet for the first year. I cut out all of the simple carbs, (white carbs) and switched to all complex carbs. I KNOW this made a huge difference in the speed of my weight loss. Portion control + healthy diet + exercise=WL.
Go to tickerfactory.com for your ticker. Once you follow instructions and build it, copy the entire thing, (not just the link) and past it in your signature line. Go to "My OH" at top, Home page, settings, message board to find where you past the signature.
Best~
