How many years have you been banded? List weight loss and if ANY complications to date
Years Banded: 2 years 8 months
Minor Complication: none
Major Complication: none
Mechanical Failure: none
Weight Loss: 42 lbs (did lose 67 lbs, but regained some, working on losing it again)
Band Type: 10 cc Lap Band
Edited: I also wanted to say I have never kept my band tight at all. Really I have not ever had very much restriction except right after surgery. Even though I have regained some weight, I would have regained it all without my band and I wouldn't have even lost it in the first place without my band. It is still very hard to lose the weight because your head doesn't change a bit as we all know. It had helped me in ways I couldn't do it myself though!

Years Banded - Just over 3 years (no longer banded)
Minor Complication - esophageal dysmotility, dilation, acid reflux, shoulder pain and a minor slip that was resolved by an unfill and rest.
Major Complication - complete herniation of my stomach though the band, causing my stomach to become ischemic, which caused me to have heart attack like symptoms and severe pain, band removal was done on an emergency basis and they had to keep me open to make sure that my stomach "pinked" back up and was still alive after having it's blood flow cut off for hours. If I had waited any longer to go to the hospital, I might have died. I also had severe neurological issues that have completely resolved since having my band removed.
Mechanical Failure - about two months after I had my band done they went to give me a fill but found that my port was completely tilted, I did not have surgery to have it fixed b/c they where able to palpitate my stomach and get it in place each time to fill it, but it was extremely painful every time.
Weight loss - 92 was the highest lost, but got pregnant and then maintained an 80 lbs loss (was unfilled and kept it lose so that I could get enough calories to nurse my little guy for almost 2 years).
Band Type: - I don't remember, I want to say a 10 cc AP or something like that.

Tripmom, I knew you had had problems but not how bad they were! Wow! How awful!

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
My esophagus is pretty much permanently damaged, I still have severe dysmotility which causes me to have to stay on a PPI permanently and sometimes (if I am not careful to chew like crazy) to throw up without any warning (super fun in public).
A small portion of my stomach did not get a return blood flow after it was damaged, but luckily it was part of the stomach that was removed with the Sleeve, so there is no lasting damage there. It could have been a very big issue if I was not being sleeved.
The removal and clean up of my scar tissue and hiatial hernia during my sleeve surgery has helped a HUGE amount with the shoulder pain and diaphragm issues, but they do creep up every once in a while.
