"The products are supposed to be used in combination with a very low-calorie diet of 500 calories a day so they are potentially dangerous and could lead to gallstone formation, electrolyte imbalance and heart arrhythmia, she says."

That's why people think they work, because who wouldn't lose weight eating only 500 calories a day.

Okay, I'm off to read more

My friend lost 40 pounds in 40-days with prescription, injectable HCG and kept the weight off for more than 2-years, so when my weight started creeping up after years of maintaining goal weight with lapband surgery (7+ years), I decided to give HCG a try.
I lost 12 pounds in 30-days following Simeon's protocol to a T...plateau'd at about day 15, but was motivated to stay on protocol!!!  I eventually got so frustrated at 30-days that I binged...and binged on things that were never of interest to me for many years...particularly, chocolate cake!!!  I gained about 5-pounds in 1 day and ALL in my stomach.  I lost it at that point and quit the HCG-protocol...have since gained the 12-pounds that I lost PLUS 10 more pounds!!!

I'm so frustrated!!!  I'm now an emotional eater again....trying to stifle my negative emotions at being overweight again by binge eating.  I initially believed that the HCG diet was great as I saw the scale dropping daily, but be wary of the diet's unforgiving binging while on HCG...YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT....

I would say that 98% of the time I eat healthy, so I probably would have done alright on the HCG protocol had I only done a 21-day protocol, but I didn't see the results quickly enough that other HCG'rs raved about.  I had about 20 pounds to lose and I later learned that the more weight you needed to lose, the faster the weightloss.  Anyway, be wary...if you want to discuss this privately, feel free to contact me.

My opinions are based on my personal experience...I know many others that lost weight on the HCG diet and maintained their weightloss, so I'm not advocating for it one way or other.

I ate exactly the same thing daily (roasted chicken, asparagus, fresh strawberries, breadsticks, tea, water)...my daily calorie intake ranged from 400 to no more than 500 calories per day.

If the average woman needs 2000 calories a day to function, and only eats 500, she's burning off 1500 per day. How can she NOT lose weight, with or without wasting her $$$$ on HCG?

Banded 10 years & maintaining my weight loss!! Any questions, message me.

Bette, you would lose weight at first your body wouldn't have a choice but after a certain amount of time your body is going to get use to them calories and you wont lose no more your body will actually go into starvation mode and hold onto everything you eat .

The person would have to yet again cut calories or up there calories to start losing again.

I dont see how any doctor can come out and say eating 400 to 600 calories a day is healthy . That is insane IMO.  Your body needs more calories then that to function every day.  That is why people go on these drastic I'm going to cut calories will lose weight at first then its going to stop or when they go off these drastic diets they can never keep the weight off because in reality they did not learn how to eat healthy in the first place.

In the long run its not  healthy for your body to be eating such low calories it will screw up your metabolism  mine is messed up right now due to me keeping my calories way to low for  a long time especially with the Zumba I do every day .

Thanks for posting tbis! It probably needs regular posting!

Everyone on here has probably done stupid fad diets at some stage. I know I did - not this particular one but others! It is hard to see how anyone could think it was a good idea but desperation can make fools of us all!

Perhaps if ths one is now officially banned, it may stop people! Although with the internet, maybe not!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
