But that was the whole point...

Its been about 4 months since surgery and Im down about 40lbs and Ive managed to trim an excess of 23 inches all over... I think overall ive done pretty nicely in terms of healing, eating and exercising.... but im thinking that it may be time for a fill... I cant say that I can 100% eat the same amount as before but I am noticing small changes on when and how i feel my hunger and how long it keeps me full. Im just SO scared to get a fill... I havent had ANY food intolerances or yucky side affects... I want to keep losing weight but im terrified, help?

You need to discuss it with your surgeon, if you feel you are struggling and your hunger level has increased and your weight loss has slowed down, then it may be time for a fill.

The more saline you put in your band the more unpleasant side effects you will experience and you will have to refine your eating and eat more carefully.

Hopefully with a small fill you won't develop any intolerances but will notice a change in your hunger. You've actually gone a long while without one, give it a try-if you have side effects it can be removed.

Good luck.

Just let your surgeon know your concerns and you can start off with a small fill if you're nervous. And like PP said, it can always be taken back out!

Yes, it was the whole point, but I feel the same as you do.  I haven't had a fill yet and I am a little over 8 months out.  I haven't had the need for one so it hasn't been an issue.  I know that when I do need one I will be a bit afraid as well.  We hear so many horror stories about too tight, can't eat, etc.  I think like others said, communicating with your surgeon your fears and maybe starting off with a little bit, will allay your fears.

Let us know how it goes!!

Definately start with a SMALL fill and voice that to your DR. I have had 3 since my operation-in july...and the last fill has made me too tight and has slowed down my weight -loss! why? because I am not eating enough and this has slowed down my metabolism.   Just make sure you are perfectly clear with your DR. what you want. p.s. congrats on the 40lbs!

I wouldn't even think about a fill unless you are gaining weight.  Looks like you have done very well so far.  Are you still losing?  You have some restriction even without a fill.  You do have a band around the top of your stomach.  I wish you well.

At 40 pounds in 4 months they may not even want to do a fill on you. Sounds like you have some restriction w/o a fill. ENJOY!
