I had my lapband removed just about 2 years ago due to dysmotility of the esophogas.  Just curious if anyone else had their bad removed and later reinstalled.  I'm VERY eager to lose weight.

Just wondering why you would want another band???

I have to second Maria F. It seems like the previous esophageal dysmotility would be a contraindication for another lap band.

You might want to begin exploring other weight loss surgeries. No ethical surgeon should be willing to reinstall another band if you've experienced esophageal dysmotility.

Good luck.

As a rule once you've had issues with the band it won't work have another one put in, you just end up with the same problem before long. There are other far more effective sugeries out there. Good luck to you!

ABSOLUTELY do not get another band. Getting another band is bad for so many reasons. Don't buy into that sales pitch. If you are unable to get revised to a different WLS then it is better to go with no tool vs getting re banded.

Your new band will slip again no doubt about it, so don't let them talk you into a band to band revision like they did to me  Take advantage and learn from our mistakes. One reason is that, due to your first band slipping...your second band will have to be placed in a less then optimal position and finding restriction can be nearly impossible. In fact, you may end up being too tight from the get go with an empty band.

Your esophageal dysmotiity is not only contraindicated, but it will return.

I had my band removed and I revised to the VSG. I've lost 126+ lbs in 12 months and am very pleased with my quality of life with the sleeve.

Perhaps you could look into a revision to a more effective WLS? Like the others have said, if the band caused so much damage, you are even more unlikely to obtain positive results from a second band.

Best of luck,
Lindsey

Oesophageal dysmotility ia a contra indication for banding.

I am a pro-band person! But not in your case!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I agree,  dysmotility of the esophagus is a contradiction that Allergan have on their website, and please don't pay out of pocket to get around this, many people go through other loop holes to get the band or go to Mexico when they really are not good candates and end up suffering more horrible complications.

I know you probably want the band, but it just is not a good fit, you may want to consult with a specialist on other options. Good luck.
