the first one was being too tight and a mild dilated pouch in 2006 after a long car trip,

is there something about prolonged travel that I haven't been warned of?
or just a point of reference in your history?

Not being a smart a$$ ..... really wondering.
I love car travel.

I believe that Maria is quoting a former poster here who had a very 'active imagination' regarding her band experience.

I am not aware of travel (especially car travel) having any real impact on the band.
Of course, you want to walk around periodically during any long period of time to reduce your chances of clotting -----

Exactly. More of a health risk from that than from the band as a result of travel.

Oh you won't have a problem with that! Long car trips would not cause any band problem. It could make a trip miserable if you already were having a problem, but it will by no means cause one.

Now I have heard a few ppl say they have gotten tight during flight. It never happened to me. And I think most bandsters have no problem at all with it. But seems to be an issue with a very small minority.

As far as the post...............that was my attempt at humor. The forum was quiet and I thought I would bring up one of someone's "alarming and conflicting" band stories. You  know, play the "*****members this" game to get some conversation going. Stay tuned for more! :-)

I used to fly about three times a year for my daughters cheerleading competitions and flying always caused the fluid in my band to swell. Have you ever traveled to a higher altitude and seen a bag of chips swell up...that is exactly what the fluid in my band would do. Many times I was unable to eat during these trips and I usually brought protein drinks and slowly sipped my way through the weekend.

It wasn't that big of a deal for me once I stopped fighting against it. We were always having to drag the kids from practice to practice to practice between prelims and finals and never really had time for a sit down meal and if their was time for a meal then the lines were so long that it wasn't worth the wait. Most cheerleading competitions when we had to fly were meals on the go anyways.

I really miss those times with my daughter, she stopped competing three years ago and now she is doing Polynesian dancing and she is amazingly talented. They invited her to be on the performance team at her very first class.

I still go to the local cheerleading competitions with one of my old cheer mom friends. I still need my cheer fix dang it. My daughter refuses to go with me because after 10 years of cheer and gymnastics she developed a case of severe burnout.

All Star cheerleading = hard core training. I remember one year when one of the girls on her squad brought her boyfriend to watch a practice ...he was making fun of the guys on the team and then much to my surprise he ended up joining the team. I laughed my ass off when he ended up vomiting half way through practice. My daughters coach was a hard ass and he worked those kids as hard if not harder then a high school football coach works his football team. Her coach was tough & mean and that is what I loved about him.

Here is a link to one of my favorite competitions. We missed first place by 1/10 Th of a point.
