So I have lurked here off and on.  I am finally sure I will be getting my band (IN ONE WEEK!!!!) so I thought I would join up and chit chat a bit.

I have never had surgery of any kind before (never a stitch or a broken bone).  I am not as nervous as I thought I would be.  Everyone keeps telling me that I can do this, and you know what, I think I can.

i know you can too!  fwiw...follow your surgeon's advice to the tee!  don't rush trying to eat...i actually decided to "embrace" the whole clear liquid-full liquid-pureed-mushies stages.  I just kept telling myself that this was going to help me use this new tool better.

Betsey gave you some very good advice here! Make sure to follow your doc's instructions and you will do fine! Just remember to move as soon as you can after surgery, walk walk walk and sip sip sip, it will help with the post op gas and get you feeling back to yourself in no time!

Good luck!

Thanks y'all.  I have been doing my best to follow my Doc's advice.  The only little slips I had were I used some tomato juice to make "fake chili" because I needed something that tasted like real food.  I told him, and he said it was a great idea.  I also had 1 regular Pepsi, and that was a bad one.  In my defense, I was getting a caffeine headache or a low blood sugar headache (they both have that same spacey pain feel for me).

Three years ago, I was drinking a 2 liter of Pepsi a day.  I cut back to a couple 24oz bottle or a couple 44 oz fountaisn with ice. About a year ago, I cut it back to 1 24oz or 1 fountain.  Almost 2 weeks ago (on Monday, it will be 2 weeks) I cut it all off, except for that one 20oz I  drank for my headache. I am pretty proud of myself, because I was a major addict when it came to my Pepsi.  I still have a fridge full of it, and yet I am still managing to abstain.  I am kind of proud of that.

Congrats and Good Luck!!  It sounds as you have already made some lifestyle changes.  As previously stated....follow your doctor's orders, sip, walk and take it slow.  You will do great!!
