failure
Oh I am so sorry. I know how hard you have tried so I won't patronise you by asking if you have tried X and tried Y.
Is it the steroids? Or just not bring able to sort eating? Or not getting restriction?
I can't help but could someone professional. - a nut?
On the bright side. Losing ANYTHING. And keeping it off while on prednisone is wonderful!

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I'm so sorry you're disappointed, but considering all your other health challenges, and especially the prednisone, I think you've done the best you possibly can.
Have you talked to your bariatric surgeon about this?

My surgeon doesn't understand pred. He blames ME. Don't get me started with him. His wife/nurse totally understands pred. Last visit I said, "Dr., it would be great if you at least looked up the side effects of pred since many people you see are on it. I don't think you have the slightest idea of what this drug does." He didn't like me for that, but too bad.
I fight daily to lose. I'm down to 1100 calories, can't have huge restriction as vasculitis means inflammation. too much filling (what a normal person would consider perfect) often gets too tight and I'm just puking. I have a little restriction and that's not my problem really...I even have a trainer I see 2x a week!
My problem is the prednisone. It will not give up the weight easily. Prednisone would require me to eat 3x less than a normal bander to lose. SO basically I can't eat. I lose about 1-2 pounds A MONTH now. many times the scale goes up and down up and down.
My docs won't let me have any other surgery due to my illness and the meds I must take. Malabsorption would suck when I get a flare. My friend has bypass and did great. She's so skinny, but her vasculitis is raging. She's having a really hard time with it. :(
I just needed to vent. I'm on plan, haven't gone off it, but I'm sick of being sick and sick of fighting the meds and the weight and the food. ugh...and even my doc.

I can't Janine (and you're looking fabulous!). I have a rare disease and malabsorption wouldn't be good at all. As far as the sleeve...my docs are afraid since my vasc goes after my bowel and stomach at times. So that's why I went with the band. I'm glad I lost anything, but so sick of fighting for every pound. Please read my above post if interested. It explains my situation.
You are NOT a failure! You worked your band. You put a lot of effort in your band. You believed in your band. You did what you needed to do to make your band work. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!
Your band may be a failure, your band may have failed as a result of your medical condition and meds, or it could be a combination of both. The odds were really stacked against you with your medical history. So as quick as I am to jump in and yell "failed band", I admit that may not be the the fault of the band in your case. Regardless of what caused the failure..........band/meds/combination of........................YOU have not failed.
My heart goes out to you b/c I remember when you first joined reading your profile and seeing all that you had gone through b/c of you medical condition. It stole your life from you. Life is NOT always fair!
I wish there was something I could say to comfort you..........but I am at a loss. I hope that one day soon their will be a cure for your medical condition. I hope you will one day be able to have a WLS that will not conflict with the medical issues you have. I hope one day you will be able to re-claim that life that was taken from you.
Hugs!
