Moving to the sleeve side of town
Congratulations! Almost 9 months from my revision and it is wonderful.
Had mine done in one surgery with a very skilled revision surgeon since the band left my insides with lots of issues. The surgery was much easier than I expected and have had a fairly easy time of it.
The first month was probably the worst since I couldn't believe I actually did it. Now very use to eating the sleeve way and can't believe I went through almost 4 years with my band.
Good Luck with your up coming surgery.

Is it just me, or do the happiest ppl on the Lap-Band forum seem to be the revisioners?! Lol
Greg best of luck with your revision. I know you will do wonderfuly with VSG. So glad you have the opportunity to revise!!!
I know you are probably a busy person, but please take time out of your schedule from time to time to come back to the band forum and share your story. Pre-ops NEED to hear stories like yours so they can make INFORMED decisions as to weather to get the band or not. If ppl like us don't post............then all they read is the sunshine and unicorn type fairy tales some of the band cheerleaders are known to "share".
Please pay it forward and let others know what the band can REALLY be like so less ppl end up going through what you did with your band!!!
I really loved my band when I had it, although looking back I think it slipped very early on. My doctor seemed to fill it up quickly so I'm not sure if that was the problem or just coincidence that it slipped. Either way, I was free to make the band decision. Doc really wanted me to get the VSG or the RNY because of my diabetes. In hind site, the cost of a used car ($15,000) was cheaper than what I ended up going through. Live and learn.

I lost my band due to erosion on Oct. 6th. So far I've been doing fine- exercising and making careful choices, sticking to about 1500cal a day. Of course I live in total fear of weight gain.... I still have no confidence that I can keep this off for the long run.
I am just wondering what changed for you after a year to make you start gaining weight. Any advice would be appreciated. You did great to keep it off for a year!
Good luck with your sleeve. I wanted to revise to a sleeve when I got my band out but of course insurance wouldn't pay BECAUSE I WASN'T FAT ANYMORE!!! If I hadn't done well with the band, the the a-holes would have paid.

Thanks to everyone for all of your kind words and well wishes. After I had my band I was so excited because I finally had this diabetes mess fixed. That was always my main motivation, so when I had the second slip and the band was removed, I was crushed.
I believe that I did a good job controlling my weight for a year or so because I had truly developed good eating habits. I slowed down, ate more protein, less carbs and of course had reasonable portions. I always exercised so that was not really an issue for me albeit I did step up the exertion level. I also believe that I had a fair amount of scar tissue around the top of my stomach and still had the sensation of restriction.
An extra bite here and an extra bit there is really all it took to undo all my hard work. There were a few times that I splurged and knowingly over ate, stretching my stomach back out. There was a snowball effect that built quickly...and once the gates were open, the weight came back on very quickly.
If you have your band and it's working for you keep following the rules. If you just lost it, keep up with your good habits and best of luck to everyone.
