Moving to the sleeve side of town
Good luck, Greg! Oh boy, I know what you're talking about! I thought I'd be able to keep the weight off after band removal, too. It's HARD! I'm envious that you're having the sleeve done. I wish you the very best and hope the surgery is completely uneventful and you're up and at 'em in no time!

The sleeve sounds more "dramatic" when you first hear of it, but in the long term I think it's an infinitely superior surgery. I'm sure you'll do well!
It kinda stinks having to self pay, but it will be worth it in the long run, I'm sure.
I was looking into sleeve revision but I still have too much damage even 6 years after band removal, unfortunately. Maybe someday!

Wow, I just read your story and it's the worst one I ever heard about the band. There are plenty of bad tales with the sleeve too...yikes! The quality of my life is really going down hill even though I'm a light weight. My diabetes is back (after total remission) my blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides are all up again. I spend a fortune on medicine and already having effects on my eyes, kidneys, hands and feet.
I have been sitting up nights worrying if I'm making the right decision. Did a ton of research and even more praying...but this is it, I'm at the point of no return and hoping my surgeon has a good day and my guardian angel watches out for me.

It's kind of amazing how just a little bit of regain can affect your health, isn't it? I think I've regained just about any weight I lost during my time banded. But I sure feel more alive than I did when I had the band, so at least that's something.
I hope your diabetes goes back into remission... I bet it will.
I'll be thinking of you.

Greg, Thanks so much! I am a different person, BUT I remember every single day that I am very fortunate to have good results with my Lapband. I don't ever take it for granted. I feel sad for those who have bad results with the band. Everyone of us started this journey with the same desire - the desire to be healthy. I'm sorry you've struggled. You will do well with the Sleeve and your Diabetes will get back in remission. Stay strong. You've made a good decision. Good Luck!
