The ones who proclaim the virtues of the band are usually the quietest when it comes to revising, aren't they?

So true! Funny how the bandsters is always the failure...........UNTILL IT HAPPENS TO THEM!

My favorite "undies in a bunch" pre-op, who was really nasty to me on several occasions, is now on the VSG board waiting for her sleeve b/c she realized that the band "wasn't for her" after one of our "uneducated" conversations. Love when that happens.

Yeah there is someone that comes to mind that just LOVED her band! But had tons of complications. When I posted about the band one time she kind of trashed me and said I was just "bitter".

Well  a year later..............guess *****cently revised to VSG?!?!?! lol

Sometimes ppl's words come back to bite them in the ASS! ;-)

HA! you NEED to get over yourself...IN FACT, I had a friend at my previous job that got a lap band AND SHE ABUSED IT! she vomited every single time she put food or liquids in her mouth....she did not care, her only concern was getting to a size 4......her band finally slipped, we are still friends, she acknowledged her abuse, she will tell you in a minute...she caused her band to slip...THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE I RESPECT...HEY...if you ride a too tight band and vomit daily that's YOUR PREROGATIVE.....BUT PLEASE DO NOT DISRUPT THIS FORUM WITH BULL **** and scare newbies....let them decide on what they want and which surgery to pick in peace and allow them to have their day for scale victories and band anniversaries...PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never had any saline in my band. My body couldn't handle it. My surgeon did a fill once in an attempt to move the band away from the diaphragm. It didn't work.

Even completely unfilled, I was unable to eat solid foods. And I listened to people like you who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and stupidly believed that it must have been something *I* was doing... because "doctors don't lie." Well, let me tell you, doctors DO lie. If my doctor had any sort of conscience, he would have admitted that the band was doing irreparable harm to my body. But instead, he told me that I should "get a hobby." No problem, I mean, I can't breathe, eat, poop or stand up... but it must not be band related, right?

And people like you who like to believe that you'll never have problems if you do "all the right things" are in for a world of hurt when you find out that your body has its own timeline. And the soft tissue of your gut is complaining right this minute, whether you know it or not.

I WILL continue to tell people about my experience and warn them of the dangers of the lapband, so this is a pointless conversation. The more often I get told what I can and can't say, the more stubborn I become.

Thanks Nana. I definetly will not be getting the sleeve then. Have you had successful weightloss with the band? I am a single mother of 2 little ones so the surgery itself scares me a bit. I'm all these kids have...which is why I need to lose weight. I'm only 30 and 100lbs overweight.
I don't know what Nana said to you about the sleeve, but I'm guessing she is not being totally honest and you should really check out the sleeve forum here on OH.

Nana is full of crap about the Sleeve, PLEASE for your health, safety and LIFE research the VSG (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) before you listen to her and jump to get a band. Most of her information is false and she has NO IDEA what she is talking about.

What an awful answer, and what a horrible thing to say about another person because he/she was successful and YOU weren't! YOU should be ashamed for yourself to have written that. Of course she knows what she is talking about, you know why? Because she follows the rules and it just so happened that it worked for her. "Please for your health, safety, and LIFE research the VSG" are you their new sponsor now? People are not idiots and they do research. It is what works best for them, NOT YOU! You sound like a very angry bitter woman. Hows about next time using a little more constructive criticism when addressing such a delicate issue...

No one is bitter because someone else was "successful" with the band, believe me.

Obviously you have not been around very long, I am the least bitter and angry person around LOL In fact my life is awesome since my band was removed, and take a look at my ticker to see how unsuccessful I am. If you go back and read my story (which you won't), you will see that I WAS successful with my band, and was a model bandster, following the rules until it twisted up my guts and nearly killed me and left me with permanent damage. I can't decide for this pre-op, but I can provide my personal story as a cautionary tale, along with information on other choices besides the band (which just happen to have better outcomes and stats).

I will never be ashamed to tell people the TRUTH, and the truth is that while Nana might know all about the band rules, she knows NOTHING about the VSG and she continues to spread false information about it, almost as if someone choosing something other the band is a direct insult to her. If she was to educate herself about it and then offer an opinion that would be one thing, but to just make up stuff or use information she has heard second hand is not giving good, solid advice.

Obviously this pre-op did not do much research or didn't know what to look for b/c she had never even heard of the VSG, nobody said she was an idiot, just that she was not informed about all of her options and to make a decision without looking at ALL the options was not a good idea.
