Confused about the band

I can give you my personal horror story with my band, but it's pretty much the same as everyone elses. I'll throw it out there that I only had that dreaded thing for 8 months, but today at 2.5 years post my revision to VSG, I am left with permanent nerve damage and pain from the band. I was a stellar band patient, followed every rule to the letter, and it still almost killed me and I lost additional stomach tissue due to the damage it did to my stomach. Not to mention the hoards of scar tissue and adhesions it left in my abdominal cavity that had to be removed because of the pain they caused.

I'm 2.5 years out, just delivered a beautiful, healthy, full term baby girl 4 weeks ago, had zero issue in my pregnancy due to VSG. I lost 137lbs with the sleeve, and maintained my loss for a year until the pregnancy weight crept in. I gained a total of 35lbs with the pregnancy, and at 4 weeks post-delivery, I've lost 25 of those pounds ! ! !
Wow....how did me telling a newbie to do their research on the band and letting them know upfront that it is a tool indicate that I am ignorant?

Apparently, I have some type of sense....I've had my band going on 7 years and it still works...

I am not a Sleeve basher, I have friends that got the Sleeve, and they tell me what issues they have, and also if someone is researching the Sleeve, they can just do a search on all the leak complications, adverse reactions to carbs and sweets, long term vitamin deficiencies or dumping or what ever you call it, this is not bashing a surgery it is just reporting the side effects which are NOT pleasant, just like the band bashers report side effects of their damaged and slipped bands, which I am sure is not nice.

No one ever mentioned that the lap band is complication free or an angelic device, it comes with issues just like any other surgery, there are very important rules to follow....no one knows your situation or is blaming you for your complication, sure many people bodies may reject the band, the surgeon may install it wrong...BUT THERE ARE MANY that abuse it....this is why I try to warn the newbies of THE PREVENTABLE COMPLICATIONS WITH THE BAND...so they don't have to unnecessarily suffer horrible complications....I have always been able to eat normally with my band from day one and I've never suffered any horrible complication with my band just like you mentioned the Sleeve worked great for you....

I am far from ignorant...you can't be a lead software engineer and be stupid

Congrats on your new baby, I am wishing you more healthy years with your Sleeve!

Oh my gosh she is just so BEAUTIFUL I am definitely screaming from all the cuteness,
CONGRATULATIONS on your beautiful baby girl. I would be more then willing to take her off your hands for you....just sayin.

I LOVE newborns I can hold them for hours and just stare at them When and if the time comes that I can manage without having to live on Vicodin, I want to re-open my daycare business. I loved doing daycare and my parents loved me because their babies became a part of my family.
I'd only take two babies max and they always became a part of my family. I still to this day remain in contact with all my grown up babies.

Last Saturday I took one my babies that I had since she was 2 months old and who is now 6 years old to the outdoor ice skating rink and then I took her out to lunch. I was supposed to have her all day on Friday but my BIL who was visiting and staying at my house came down with the flu and I had to cancel so she wouldn't get sick.
I called her on the phone to tell her that she couldn't come over and hearing her sob was as painful as watching somebody club a baby seal OMG...THE GUILT.

I usually get a phone call about every other month from my old clients wanting to know if I can watch their new babies or babies of their friends or co-workers. I have no choice but to turn them down due to all the residual lap band complications.

One day...

Awww thanks so much ! ! ! She's a month old today, and just a lovebug. We transitioned this week out of our bed to her bassinet, and it's been lovely having my bed back. . .

I admit I was petrified of having more children. My husband had none before we married, and I have a 13 yr old son from a previous (my husband and him consider themselves biological), but it's been a cool thing to see Caysen attach himself to her, and go through all the "firsts" again.

I love my children, but it takes a lot for me to like another's child. It's weird because i never thought I'd want or have children, and I've been blessed with 2.

Life is good. We're sleeping about 6 hours a night, and I feel human when she gives me a chance to shower LOL!

Six hours a night is really good at this stage you got LUCKY !

My oldest was 18 months old when I met my husband and she never knew he wasn't her biological father until I told her when she was nine years old, I didn't even tell her sibling for many years after that. It was none of their damn business anyways and telling them was like telling someone the dog peed in the house again....nobody gave a **** We don't even think about it at all because for all intents and purposes they are daddy and daughter.

I secretly laugh whenever someone tells her she looks like her father

Those pics are 3-4 years old at this point, but, no one ever suspects that they are not biological father/son.
Caysen is 13, I'm 34, and John is 29. We really are a May(his bday) and December(mine) couple.

It's quite comical when people sit there and try do the math in their heads trying to figure out how he could be Caysen's bio dad because they look so much like each other. I've actually leaned into the conversation and said " No ma'am, I was NOT robbing the cradle back when John was a mere 16yrs old, C is from my previous relationship, John and I have only been married 3 years."

My brother married a woman with two daughters from a previous relationship. People were constantly telling the girls how much they looked like their "dad"---and the really weird thing is that they both now have children of their own, who look like their 'granddad'!!!
