Confused about the band
Hi ,
I live in Canada and am seriously considering getting lapband. I was booked for the procedure 2 years ago and backed out because I freaked out and thought I could lose the weight myself without paying the 18k. Well...2 years later, I am 20 lbs heavier. I have about 100 lbs to lose and really think this could work for me...but i have not seen many positive posts about it. Any info or advice would be sooo greatly appreciated before I go ahead with this. Good advice, or bad! Thanks!!!!

You are going to get replies from those who love their bands, those who hate them and all shades between! To get it straight from the start - I love mine!
Whn I was banded in 2006, we were told that it was the least major wls surgery, the fastest recovery, the lowest operative mortalty rate. All true. We were told it would almost certainly last our life time - not true for many. That complications were minor - many are but it is increasingly clear that there can be serious long term complications. That it is reversible- basically true but not as simple as it sounds!
We were warned that it means hard work and loss is not fast. True!
So why do I and many others still think we made the right choice?
Well it does work for many. You need an eperienced surgeon, good aftercare and hard work. For some reason, it helps to be British or Australian - maybe Canadian as well??
All wls requires a lifestyle change, all wls can be sabotaged, all ws can have complications.
If I lost my band tomorrow, I woud notvregret my choice. Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
