Tomorrow is my first fill and I just reaized that I didn't ask about eating before having the fill done. Can I eat before the fill or am I not suppose to eat after 12? How will I feel afterwards. Will I be sore? FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!!!

My doctor has never told I can't eat before a fill. My appointments are usually in the morning, so I usually have breakfast at my usual time. (before my kids go to school so, around 7:30 and my appointments are between 9-10) As for feeling afterwards. You will probably feel the same as when you walked in. Sore? depends on how you do with needles. I am usually a little sore after a fill from where the needle goes in. It's not unbearable or anything. Most times I only feel it if I happen to brush against the port site or something hits me right there. If you leave it alone, you should be fine.

If my appointment is in the morning I don't normally eat before because we get weighed first LOL!!!

However there are no rules with my surgeons office with regards to whether we can or can't eat before a fill.....one time when my appointment was in the afternoon I ate a regular breakfast and had a protein shake for lunch..... Now he is very specific about what we can and can't do after a fill but not before.

If you are having an upper GI done after your fill, then no, you can not eat after midnight the night before your fill.

I was never told anything about not eating.  I normally have afternoon appointments so I have my breakfast, lunch and a snack if needed before a fill.  I have had 2 with no problems

Good luck tomorrow
