hi there, i have been banded for about 5 years maybe 4, i cant quite remember. anyway i have been plateaued for over 3 years now. i have huge restriction and cant eat much, but i figure hey, if im not losing at least im not gaining. Pretty sure I am dilated, have been before, so figure I prob am again. More often than not I puke everything up,( well not so much anymore but i still do sometimes, now mind you that it my fault too at times because i drink when i eat, so yah,ii know i shouldnt but whatever) so I know I am definately too tight, but hey, like i said at least i am not gaining.

So this is my new idea.  maybe i shoul just get unfilled completely. ( yes fr the dilation also) and stay that way for at least 6 months or so, maybe longer. then maybe i couldtry a fill again and it will be likeit first was when i as banded and losing weight.   you think that might work??
nothing else seems to right so i figure why the heck not.

think that would work?  mybe i could join weigh****chers in the meantime or something??

You aren't helping yourself here.

Being too tight has serious consequences for the longevity of your band and for your own health. It doesn't even  necessarily help weight loss as it becomes too easy to live on slider foods.

You need help from your doctor to have some saline removed, help from a nutritionst to learn how to eat and, possibly, help from a therapist.

Ths probably sounds harsh but this post is so extreme I wonder whether it was written by a troll.

Your advice was great even if it was a troll or a hater, which I think it might be both.

Why would you call her a "troll or a hater"???

Maria,it was my fault. I said it might be a troll - just didn't seem to add up. But I was wrong and have apologised.

I too was at a plateau for about a year, would lose only to regain, mostly due to poor food choices, so finally I decided to join WW, and started walking 5 out of 7 days. Voila I started losing again. Its unfortunate that when one posts here for help , advice is followed by smart ass comments.

Edited for typos!

If that was aimed at me, my comments weren't smartass! They were from 5 years of watching people have serious and permanent harm done to them by allowing their bands to be too tight. We do no-one any favours by agreeing it is OK to keep one's band so tight that being sick is the norm.

Why on earth have I let your comment  get to me? I have been posting on here for almost 6 years, I don't need to, but I choose to. Why? To support and help. Would it help to tell the OP she is being sensible. No!

Kate, your advice was sound, and I agree, however I took exception to the comment, " I wonder if it was written by a troll". It surprised me because I always enjoy and have learnt much from your past posts,------- just seemed unwarranted.

When someone doesn't know how long they have had a band, says it is about 5 years but then appears to have no idea of how to live with a band or of the dangers of oesophageal dilation after all that time, it raises questions.

However, I have now checked her profile and I can see my suspicion was unwarranted. I should have looked before writing and not allowed my irritation with the content of the thread to take over. So I apologise for jumping to conclusions. And for being irritated in the first place! Mea culpa.
