Who has had a slipped band?

I had a really bad slip which caused the band to strangulate my stomach and twist it into a kind of Figure 8. I had a repositioning surgery and then finally removal when the repositioning didn't rectify the problems.

If the choice is between having a second surgery to fix the band slip and a revision to another surgery, I'd choose the different surgery due to the fact that bands that have slipped once are more likely to slip again, unfortunately.

You want the fewest amount of surgeries possible due to the risk of adhesions.

Good luck to you. I hope the slip rights itself and you feel better soon.

I had a small slip in mid October.  Had all the fluid removed and am working on healing up.  I have an appointment in December to get another upper GI and see how things are healing...Hoping I am all better as I have gained about 4 lbs and don't want to gain any more.

I've had two lap bands and both of them slipped and the second one eroded as well. My daughters lap band slipped too.

Please reconsider a re positioning surgery. If you are able to revise due to a slip then get the band out  while you still have the chance. There are so many failed bandsters who are suffering from other severe and painful lap band complications everyday and their ins co are denying services for lap band removal due to " lack of mechanical failure (ie a slip) of their lap bands"
