Happy Thanksgiving to you too!  The biggest mistake you could make would be to have a fill when you don't need one...if you are happy with your progress and feel that your band is assisting you by helping to keep hunger at bay, then you are doing fine.  It is true that some complications can be brought on by over-filling and it is ok to be a bit cautious.

Thanks Redbabe !! How are things going for you ? I hope things are going well since you had your surgery.

The smoking I just about broke down the other day *sigh*.  I did it though and made it through. Things have been very very stressful here at the house  money wise ,  holidays and tax seaon with the Semi sure dont help matters,  and then I had some major anxiety attacks a couple of weekends and talk about wanting a smoke to calm the nerves down.  It has been awhile since I craved and almost gave in to smoking one .

I held my ground though knowing I would hate myself as soon as started.

There are some bad habits that I haven't picked back up since my surgery . Smoking, eating a fast food cheeseburger , and not having a ounce of soda .  Those three things I lived on before my surgery and now its been a yr and not one of them things has touched my lips which I am proud of but having a smoke would be nice lol.

I wish I could be like my friend she smokes two ciggs a day and that is it , I wish I had that kind of will power lol.  I have better will power over food then I did over my smoking .

Have a great Thanksgiving Red !!!!

Thanks Tina for the nice words and Happy Thanksgiving to you also !!

Congratulations!!  You deserve a lot of credit for losing weight AND quiting the cigs.  You have the right attitude about using restraint and keeping your restriction minimal.  Your plan is working for you.  I don't think losing fast is good for anybody.  Your body needs a chance to catch up with your weight loss.  The less you give your body to eat, the less it needs for regain....

Congratulations, Steelerfan :) I am so glad you are still around. Yeah. The place hasn't changed much but I think it has gotten a leeeeetle more polite.  You are an example of band success no matter what anyone says about *how* you use your tool.   If the band wasn't there, you would gain the weight back. (IMO, YOU TOO MARIA).  We all know the band isn't a one-size-fits-all product so why should you be criticized for how you are using it?    Before I even got the band, I was NOT going to live the rest of my life NOT enjoying my favorite foods.  With the band, I just eat so much less.   Just like you.

Keep on keeping on, girl and please don't stay away.

Thank you Phyllis. I would rather lose weight then go through of quitting smoking again . I think that has been the hardest thing I have ever done for myself and if I can quit smoking up to two packs a day of ciggs cold turkey I can do anything for myself when I put my mind to it :o) .  I never ever want to go through that again I thought I was going to die the first month of not smoking it was a ***** and  I feel for anybody trying to quit because its down right hard and it physically takes it toll on you and emotionally.

Jolena ((so many hugs to you my friend))) I'M so glad to see your ticker moving down . Like I told somebody else slow and steady will win the race.

And you are so right if I hadn't had the band I could be up to 400 pounds right now and still smoking 2 packs of smokes a day . Talk about a foot in the grave right there. That is a scary thought.

My doc knew how I wanted to do the band before he even cut me open and he supports me on how I am doing it in fact he has a patient that has lost over 200 pounds without a single fill .  He uses his band as a mental image knowing he cant eat like he use to .  He has been very successful and I would never have the heart to tell him he hasn't used his band to his full potential because he  hasn't gotten a fill in his band.

Keep up the great work Jolena do you have facebook ? If you do I will look you up :o)

Steeler Fan,
I am glad to see you post. I have been wondering how you are doing.Congrats on your bandiversary and on quitting smoking.I think it is fine for you to take this journey the way you want to. Fills are something that can help when we get to a part that we feel we need more help. Good Luck.
