I have been banded since March 2010. Have gone from 253 to 175 lbs.  I am generally happy with my band and success. I do however, have times when i vomit after eating. I admit when I treat my band with respect and watch what I eat I usually do fine. My regularly routine is usually oatmeal or farina for breakfast and a greek yogurt for lunch. I  have an Oh Yeah protein bar as a snack with coffee around 3pm. Dinner is usually a turkey burger with cheese (without the bun) or fish (tilapia or flounder and maybe a half of a small potato. The problem is eating out with friends. Sometimes I have no problems but at other times I can have one bite of something and know I am in trouble. Noting else will go down, and I wind up making several trips to the bathroom to throw up (which is very embarassing)  Does anyone have a suggestion on  how to deal with this? Do people that have had the bypass have this problem?

I have found that is an ongoing problem with Lapband. I have to be really careful when I eat out. Sometimes it goes like a dream, other times not so well. I have found the smaller amount I order the less problems I have.

 It  different  with different surgeries.

It can be a problem with  the band band if you are chatting, forget to chew and swallow quickly to join in the conversation. If you d this, you could always try ordering something soft. I think bypass people only have problems if they eat sugary things, and not all of them dump with those.

I think there is VBG board on here. Perhaps someone ith the same surgery as you might be more help to you.

I tend to order off the appetizer menu or chili or soup.  Appetizers I have found more freindly to my band...Any kind of satay, or skewer, caprese salad, chopped salads, cobb salad, chicken wings or thighs.

Often my dh will order a larger steak and I'll have a bit of that and order a side sald.

If I have to order a reg sized salad, I'll order the dsg on the side and take it home...same with a full sized entree.  The key...cut pieces VERY small chew well and stop between bites.  If you feel satisfied STOP
