Severe Gas Pains - 3 days out

Surgery went well on 11/17, but was up several times last night with several gas pains. Only thing that seemed to work was laying on my stomach. Super sharp pains, for a minute there I thought there was something wrong with my band. After awhile of laying on my stomach I was able to release some of the pressure and quickly went back to bed.
This is going to be a long haul but looking forward to it. Just one hurdle among many!

Congrats on the start of your new journey! I had surgery in October and I had the severe gas pain, especially in my left shoulder. Everyone says to WALK, WALK, WALK...which is probably the last thing you want to do when you are in bed for the night, lol! Besides walking, Gas-X works or milk of magnesia. I also found drinking water helped. Good luck to you.

To help with gas pain get some Gas-X strips. Also do as much walking as you can. That can help with the gas, as well as prevent circulatory problems.

Good luck!!!

Walk as much as you can. It's the most effective way to dispel the gas. I mean, don't go for a Forrest Gump kinda hike, but take a few laps around the house.

Also, you could use a ho****er bottle or heating pad on your abdomen. (Not too hot, of course!) and it will help with the gas pains, too.

Heal up well. Hope you feel much better soon.

The gas is common, I too struggled with Gas post op, walking helps, just walk around the house, I also found that lifting my arms over my head also helped, doing that repeaditly, walking and if you can have some one pat your back (like burping a baby) the key is too move and as mentioned before the Gas X stips help a lot!  After about a week or so I was much better
