Get it right, Pumpkin!  This is ALL your own fault. Entirely. You created your own problem. It is completely and utterly your own fault that you had pain, discomfort etc. etc.. You misused and abused your band. Of course, it went wrong. Poor band! You mistreated it. How could you? You have no- one and nothing to blame but yourself. just accept responsibility.

Now do you feel better? Has my compassion and understanding made you feel confident and enhanced your self esteem? Have I helped you to avoid feeling like a failure?

Tongue in cheek in case anyone with a humour gene missing doesn't realise!!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

SOOOOO....after over a year I'm at the final steps of going for WLS to get the band.  I came back on here figuring it would be a good idea to get some support.  I am really surprised at all the arguing and negativity.  I don't recall it being like that a year ago.  I could be wrong.  I'm just not sure this is the place I'm going to find the support I need as I get my band and take this journey.  I'll give it time, but wow....not a nice place right now.

Hi Mellio,

No, it was probably like this a year ago, too.  As long as there are people who tell others how they can and can't post, it will continue to be like this.

Support and information can be found, though. It all depends on how you choose to read things. Support means honest information.

Good luck to you! I hope you find a place that feels comfortable for you and all goes well with your surgery, if you decide to proceed.

Mellio, no, this can be a very supportive place. You may, as you get to know us all, find  it preferable to block people who irritate you but it is so important to know all sides of being banded.

I love my bsnd and, yes, would recommend it!  With provisos and caveats! But it is the right surgery for me.

Threads like this invite drama! I generally keep out of them these days but I hate any posts which say either the bnd is perfect or the band is compete c** p.  It isn't eirher of those things.

I love how you used asterisks in the word "crap," Kate. You're such a lovely person.  I'm a filthy mouthed American.

Depends on your definition of "support". Suppport is NOT telling ppl what they want to hear. Support is telling ppl the TRUTH. The band outcomes long term are extremely low. That is why the ASMBS reported last year at their annual conference that the band gets LOW MARKS.

Let me ask you this.............how many do you know with the band that is "successful", hasn't had to have a 2nd surgery and is at least 5 years out? I'm guessing no one. How may do you know that is "successful" and at least 5 years out?? Maybe one or 2? Ok so how many do you know that are just 5 years out??? See where this is going?

So if you only want to hear the band cheerleader stories, then just read those posts. Don't be surprised though if you find yourself only a few years out needing a 2nd band surgery though!

Good luck!
