Phentermine after Lapband

Hi all.  I am considering phentermine.  I am a few years out of lapband surgery..and I have hit a serious plateau.  In total I lost approx 50 pounds...but now I am starting to regain.  Has anyone used this product either before or after your surgery?  If so...what are your thoughts?

My Surgeon's practice seems to be using this fairly frequently with WLS patients as well as their medically supervised WL patient program (non surgical).  I tried it for a short time because like you I've hit a plateau.  I found it to be very dehydrating (made me very thirsty and dried out my mouth) and it kind of made me wired.  I had to be very careful not to take it too late in the afternoon or I couldn't sleep.  I was taking it in the afternoon to try to help with night time munchies.  I pretty much gave up before too long.  For me it's not about hunger.  With my band I'm very rarely hungry.  It's my head telling me that it thinks I'm hungry not real hunger.

It wouln't hurt to try though.  I found it to be least expensive at Costco.  I  don't think insurance covers it.

Best~

I was just given a perscription for apidex (phentermine) this week because I had the band  in "2005" and having differculty with acid reflex.  So they took fluid out of my band for that reason.  So now I am gaining back my weight.  They have not put much fluid back yet.  I have 1.6 cc in my 4cc band.   So I am hoping this perscription will help with my night hunger.

I have taken phentermine before and I think it did help me loose some weight,  I'm not loosing weight like I would like to so I'm thinking maybe I should give it a try again.  Good luck to you...

I don't understand the reasoning for it.  It sounds like you need a fill.  I was on a 9 month plateau, went in for a small fill and am losing again.  When I find I am thinking about food and have been stalled for a while, it ususally means it's time to get an adjustment.

Good luck to you.

I understand. it is easy to eat around the band. especially snack foods ! i use phentermine. i take 1/2 of a 37.5 tablet.3-5 days a week. the jitters are not an issue for me at the 1/2 tab dose. it can cause odd/vivid dreams ( for me anyway) and insomnia if taken after noon,.
I work 7p-7a so i tend to use food to help stay awake. Phentermine is like a cup of coffee that doesn't wear off quickly.

Phentermine is the only thing that actually curbs my appetite, but it makes me jittery, so I don't take it.

I did take it after I had a hysterectomy and was starting to regain. It helped, but I didn't want to continue to take it long-term.

If I COULD take it without negative consequences, I surely WOULD!
