Correction........... the band has a very high preventative complication rate, which in most cases easily fixed.

What is a "high preventative complication rate," please?
Preventative means to prevent something from occurring.
Complications are things that have occurred.
So, are you saying that the people who have the band have a lot of preventative surgeries in order to avoid complications? Or surgeries are being performed because of complications, thereby preventing further complications?
The band has a high complication rate, most definitely. Most cases are not "easily fixed." Every time you have surgery, scar tissue occurs. Adhesions cause organs and tissue in the area of the incison to "glue" themselves to one another. This affects the level of functioning of these organs and can cause extreme pain. Every "preventative" surgery a person has in an attempt to stave off complications from the band actually causes complications in the form of adhesions.
The "easily fixed" is a fallacy. Maybe to a layperson it might seem like an "easy fix," but it's not. There is nothing "less invasive" about any abdominal surgery and the band manufacturers need to stop brainwashing people into thinking this.

Don't lash out at me..lol...I know for me, if my band caused me misery for 1 week, I would do something about it , and not have it in my body for 10 years like a idiot causing me misery, you may have a hiatal hernia that is causing your problems that is exacerbated by the band you need to lash out at your surgeon.......
At LEAST with the band you CAN do something about it, you can either take medication, get some saline removed, a too tight band CAUSES GERD, or you either have a damaged or slipped band if you are suffering from GERD that long, if your band is damaged or has slipped get the band removed, it's just that simple, MANY report more heartburn, and acid reflux with the Sleeve, they can't do nothing about that since once you remove part of the Stomach you are (**** out of luck). Be thankful that you do have options with the band since it's not permanent.

Really? Since I have been sleeved my heartburn/GERD (that was caused by my band, and b/c of the damage continued on well AFTER I was unbanded) has healed wonderfully and is completely controlled with a PPI. With the band I was on some of the big guns for the GERD and nothing (including a complete unfill) could stop it or control it.

This is the comment you made in regards to me calling you a LIAR.
"if your band is damaged or has slipped get the band removed, it's just that simple,"
I think it is funny how you say I'm "lashing out at you" If you think my typing "Really "is lashing out, you are crazy
!!! You on the other had did lash out by calling me an idiot!!! I have never bashed any of the surgeies nor have I ever bashed a person who has posted.
I was a self-pay because my insurance did not cover WLS. I have two children who need food, clothing and shelter and I have been a single mom for nine years with my youngest almost 9. I am not going to take their home away from them because I made a bad decision to have the band placed in the first place. I would rather suffer then to have them suffer becaue mom needs a min of $6,000 to get the band removed. I am actually trying to get a revision because my new insurance covers WLS.
As for the medical reasons for GERDS that you stated ,none hold true for me.
1. I have nothing in my band
2. I have only had maybe four fills
3. I had an empty band when I started to have symtems (only had band 3 or 4 weeks)
4. Gerds is the main reason I have had an empty band for 10 YEARS
5. I do not have a slipped band
6. I do not have a hiatal hernia
7. amazingly my band is not damaged
The problem with you is you make assumptions and it seems to me you bash anyone who has a different oppinion then you do. What surgery someone chooses is their decision and if they have medical problems you seem to want to blame the person. To me that is sad. I wish I had never gotten the band but I am not going to bash anyone who choose to be banded and i am happy for the people who have sucess with the band. I am also going to have sympathy and respect for the people who do have problems. I feel I am lucky that at this point , GERDS is the only real medical problem I have.
As for you saying I have options....I have only one option an that is removal. SOO, yes I am "**** out of luck" to quote you.
