Posted this before but not for some time. Meta-analysis of studies, mostly but not exclusively European.

I tried to paste this as a table but the formatting went wrong so the columns don't "fit". Please note (as my doc pointed out) that the first set all deal with bands implanted using the older perigastric technique which had a HIGHER complication rate than the pars flaccida which is now used. I do not know the country of origin of the studies, neither have I read them myself. I was given a warning that the journal in which they appear is strictly copyright and so I am not publishing that on the net! But if anyone wants to know, PM me.  I am not clear on copyright law and don't want to fall foul of it!

Clearly the results are not consistent! But neither are they as bad as we are led to believe!

Please note that I am not entering into any "my stats are better than your stats"

A separate table I have looks at EWL. from 3 years to 10 years post-op. the highest figure is 72%. most are around 50-60, one is just 38%. People may criticise me for saying this figure doesn't worry me as it is the easiest wls to eat round and so the stats include people who do not "use" their band. Please note, i am NOT saying all those who don't lose have only themselves to blame! I am saying a number of people are like that!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
