Don't know???
I had a fill of 1cc Wed.and this is secong fill one last month. The problem I discussed with him was pain under left rib and lots of gurgling and gas/bloat. He tested my tubing for leakage all was well. I sipped my water all was fine and left. He said weigh myself in 2 wks if not weight loss call him. Well here is my problem. still have the pain under ribs left side. lots of burping/ yesterday morning threw up my coffe and couldn't eat cottage cheese without throwing up. I had a repair for heital hernia during band surgery. never had a problem before. Don't know weither its a virus or not. I'm ok today if I don't drink water. I had coffee very small sips, I have pain and lots of burps. can't eat my pkg. of oatmeal. Does anybody think I need a small unfill.
Hi Spuddzy,
I always had pain under my left ribcage while banded. It never went away. My body just didn't like having the band there.
I'd recommend getting some fluid taken out and see if it helps. If you can't drink coffee without throwing up, it's too tight.
Good luck. Feel better soon.

I contacted the docotrs office the nurse on duty said just take little sips of water with my medication..I did and as soon as water goes down I burp and get a mothful and then I feel like throwing up. I was angrey with the girl that answered the phone. she said he can't see you till tes. 15th. He's not in. Then after I said------ she gave me the nurse which I saw on wed. she will text doc. I think I need to have some fluid taken out too..No fear of not losing those extra pounds now. The hard way....right?
Not only is it the "hard" way, it's the dangerous way. I'd insist on receiving some help before you become dehydrated. Your esophagus is being affected and your stomach is being affected by this, at the very least.
INSIST on someone helping you, Spuddzy. This isn't a good situation to be in. If your regular doc can't see you, have him refer you to someone who can or just go to the hospital. They should have at least one person who is proficient with a Huber needle, I would hope.
Good luck.

This is one of the things that frustrates me about doctors who do the band. If they have done any number of bands, surely they know the dangers of being too tight and unable to keep liquids down. I can't stand when I hear about people who can't get in for follow-up for several days or even weeks.
Good on you for going to the ER. A band surgeon should understand the immediacy of such problems and insist those patients get in right away.
Anyway, here's hoping the unfill will help!

Thanks everyone. I went to the ER and they gave me IV did blood work and EKG. The doctor came in and removed 1/2cc that he put in. I was able to drink the water he gave me and afterwards was discharged. He advise me to stay on liguids 2 more days until Mon. That I know will be hard. but I feel better. I still have the pain under rib cage just not as bad. He told me not to worry I'll be ok. Thanks for the sound advice.
