diverticulitis
Hard stools are indirectly band related because of our limited diet, but that can be avoided by careful eating, Movicol, added fibre etc..
Diverticulitis can be caused by a low fibre diet and by straining to pass hard stools.
So i guess the answer is that it may be a side effect of banding. But we can take care, as I say, to avoid both constipation and insufficient fibre.

I wouldn't say that it's directly related to the band. Post-op eating could contribute to diverticulitis if your diet was very low in fiber. My husband has diverticulosis (sacs in the colon, but without inflammation) and our gastroenterologist told him that the diverticula (sacs) may have occured due to inborn weaknesses in the colon wall and that the best treatment for it is to increase his fiber intake.
And of course, low fiber intake is related to constipation and hard stool.
