I was wondering if any of you had it to do all over again would you get the band again or would you get the sleeve?

Me personally? I would still go with the band, because I am still opposed to having 70-80% of my stomach removed, which is the sleeve procedure.

Whether that is the right choice for you is for you to weigh (pardon the pin) and decide. Both methods work the same way (restriction only.)

After over 6 years with my band, I still would go the band route, it's not a perfect tool, but no weight loss surgery is perfect, but the band has been safe and effective for me, so far.

I have no interest in removing any parts of my body just for weight loss, since no weight loss surgery will guarantee you will get to goal or stay there.

 The band!

I know it is not as easy to remove as they used to tell us, and I know it can cause long term harm. But that just makes it the  same as any surgery rather than the safer surgery they used to sell it as being. I prefer to keep my insides intact. Nothing against other wls - just the band is right for ME.

I hope I never lose my band because I would not have any other wls and would just have to try to remain slim by will power!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

And please note, your replies so far are from a bandster 7 years out, one six years out and one five and a half years out. Not many of us still post on here but that does not mean there aren't lots of us around!

I'm with Kate.  If I lost my band tomorrow I do not think I would get another WLS.

I love the band as a Diet Tool and that what it is doing for me.
Remember, if you want to be a 155 pound person, you have to EAT like one.

If I could go back, knowing what I know now, I would have gone with the sleeve from the start.

Oh, and you should totally ask this question over on the sleeve board too, b/c you are going to get a whole different set of of answers over there. There are many, many happy revisions over there.

I'm with Tripmom02, I wish I had the sleeve done, but since i'm self pay it cost more for sleeve and couldn't get a loan for more than the band.

I'm not having good results with the band, if I had to do it over again I would probably have gastric bypass.  I'm still trying to work this band and do my part, but I'm just not loosing and with 6 ccs in my band I still feel no restriction....
