Hi Spuddzy!
My Dr. says because every time you get a fill, you swell  a little, therefore , eating liquids and soft foods still give you nutrition. My Dr. says no solids just that same day, but wants me to resume normal diet the next day. Every surgeon is different.

Many of us don't. Mine was liquids ( thick as I like) for the rest of the day,  even if it was an evening fill. Then normal foods next day

The reason for the post-fill diet progression is that you need time to adjust to the increased pressure of the band against the stomach after a fill. You may not actually need the full 2 days liquids/2 days purees after every single fill, but it's impossible to predict how your body will respond to each fill, so it's best to play it safe.

After my first fill, I did liquids for 24 hours, then tried to eat a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. It resulted in a very painful stuck episode which probably irritated everything in there even more than it already was. So I learned my lesson the hard way.

Thanks everyone. Every bit of information is so helpful in the journey of having the band. You try not to make mistakes that could be dreadful. So, I take advice from successful people who have a band and had experience. Doctors put them in..they don't have them in..thanks

To ease your band into the transition of being tighter. You don't want any lumps & bumps in there until you've eased through some liquids/ purees
