how much was yours?

 Hi everyone. I am having a hard time finding somewhere that will have the average costs of the Lap Band listed. Basically my insurance has a $15,000.00 maxiumun for bariatric surgery. So I'm just trying to figure out if that will cover it, or how much I will have to add to it. So, what was the cost of yours?

Mine was $19,000. Worth every penny of my copays. If I were self pay I would choose something other than the band and go to Mexico to have it done. My hospital gave me the approximate amount of my copays and it was pretty close. I am still paying it off but hey. You can also make the bariatric surgeon tell you what his portion is. Mine let me make payments on the part where the actual surgery was. He also included checkups free for a year and free fills for the first 6 weeks.

I've seen average cost is 9-12K. I think mine was 13K or so (insurance paid, I have no real idea.) I think you can breathe easy knowing you'll be able to find it for under 15K. Just don't go to a "bargain" surgeon...you get what you pay for!

Mine was 14,500. I was self pay. you should be ok with the 15,000 I think. Good luck!

I think mine was close to $30K when you added in the hospital and anethesiologist. I ended up with hernia repair and spent one night.

Mine was 33,000.00  and that was just the hospital bill, not the pre cost or any after cost I did get 3 months fills for free.

I was self- pay in 2006 $13,500. One night stay. Had to have port replaced 5 years later $5,000.

Wow. I'm impressed. You are one of the few that made it 5 years out with a CRAP-BAND. Too bad you didn't beat the odds of making it that far out w/o having to have the usual 2nd band surgery! Lol.

So at this point your band has cost you at least $18,500.......and 2 surgeries. So sad! :-(
