Okay so my scale has stalled for nearly 3 weeks now. It started stalling once I added 4 days of lifting into my exercise routine. I weigh 228 by the way, not sure if that's important information but I'll add it incase someone needs to know to answer my question.

I always do 6 days of cardio and now on top of that I've added lifting for upper body twice a week and lower body twice a week.

My question is...does lifting normally stall the scale because of muscle building? Will it eventually stop and let me loose some weight lol? If so how long does the process take until my body get's used to lifting?

As for nutrition wise... Do you think I'm burning too many calories and not getting enough to eat? I've been eating like 1200-1300 calories. I make sure I get all my protein (100+grams) and water (3 liters or more).

Any advise would be nice. I'm just feeling a bit discouraged, but otherwise I love the work outs.

(Ps.) I did post this in the exercise threads, but I wanted to post it here as well to make sure I get some answers to my questions lol.

Eat more :) You're not building enough muscle, if any at all, to see that reflect on the scale.

Reverie,

I emailed you the other day but didn't hear back from you. lol. If I increase...what do I increase to? I've never ate more than 1400 so I'm not sure....

And if I do increase do I only do it on the days I workout the extra amount or just keep it at a regular increase?

Building muscle will cause the scale to stall- muscle takes up less room on the body, so if you loose fat but gain muscle they could balance each other out. That being said, I am not sure you've been lifting long enough for that to happen. I think it's just a coincidence. You are doing all the right things! Your excersise and calories are spot on. Are you watching carbs? That may help if your not already. Hang in there and that damn scale will move.

My question is...does lifting normally stall the scale because of muscle building? Yes. Will it eventually stop and let me loose some weight lol? Yes. If so how long does the process take until my body get's used to lifting? I have no idea...it depends on too many factors.

As for nutrition wise... Do you think I'm burning too many calories and not getting enough to eat? Very likely. I've been eating like 1200-1300 calories. I make sure I get all my protein (100+grams) and water (3 liters or more). You can use an online calculator (I think livestrong.com has one) to figure out what your daily calorie intake should be based on your height, weight, activity level, and desired rate of weight loss.

I know it's discouraging to see no weight loss for 3 weeks, but try to hang in there. Sometimes keeping track of body measurements instead of weight helps keep things in perspective. I know for a fact that my workouts in the past year (that include cardio, weights, resistance, flexibility, balance and stretching components) have made a big difference in my body. When I first got to my goal weight, I wore a size 10-12. Now (at the same weight) I wear a size 8-10
.
I love my workouts too. They're worth it just for that (and the way they lift my mood). And when I'm working out, I'm not standing in the kitchen planning what junk to eat next!

No advice that hasn't been given already, sorry.

However!!!  I have been watching your progress, kinda like a stalker. LOL  We have a surgery date real close to one another and you have done amazingly well!!  You should be so proud of yourself!!

I need to add some of that exercise stuff to my daily routine and then maybe I'll make my goal of 100 pounds by Christmas. UGH!  I have such starts and stops on exercise, mostly stops it appears.  Funny thing is I LOVE going to the gym.  But with 3 jobs I find it has to be 5 a.m. or nothing.   That's pretty hard!

But this isn't about me, it's about how spectacular you've done with this!!!!!

 I
I am having the same problem I find when I work out and lift weights I gain weight.  I love working out and I feel better.  I getting another fill this week I think its time.  See if that works for you.  Everyone I talk to always says to journal everything Write down everything you eat.  I am seeking out help with a gastric lapband specialist that focus on nutrition as well.  It is so difficult.  I feel for you I have been very disappointed with this lapband.

Best of luck to you

Keep working out it is so great for your mind and body. :)
