I never take them there. I think it is tacky they they charge as much as they do for things that are donated to them. :-(

Not picking on you Maria but I really love the new Goodwill Select stores around me.  The quality of the clothes seems to be higher than I remember just twenty years ago.   The prices are a little higher now, I agree but I don't mind paying because its for a good cause.   Heh. My 17 year old daughter chastisted me for shopping there recently, telling me its for the POOR people (Does she think we're rich??").

No where else can I come home with 8 dresses, 10 shirts, and three pair of shoes for less than 100 bucks.

This is from the Goodwill website:

"Regardless of how you contribute, we are grateful for your support. Thanks to your donations, in 2010, Goodwill was able to provide 2.5 million people with career services.

The sales of your donations help fund job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face employment challenges.

Last year, more than 74 million people donated to Goodwill. Goodwill accepts your new or gently used items — like clothing, appliances, electronics and furniture — and sells them in our well-known Goodwill retail stores. There are more than 2,600 Goodwill donation locations in the United States and Canada."

Love the butterfly mask!

I know you can get some good deals there sometimes, but I just feel like the prices should be lower considering they were donated. I have seen some things that I could get for the same or even less on sale NEW at the stores. That being said...........I have gotten some amazing deals at some thrift stores (Recently a London Fog down jacket for $3.29!).

P.S. I just got a London Fog winter coat for my birthday...in size 16!! (happy dance). I better not gain because then it wouldn't fit.

I think GW is great for WLS because I'm not spending tons of money on clothes that I will only be wearing for a short amount of time; but when I get down to my goal weight, though....SHOPPING MALL HERE I COME!
