What is wrong with me??? Why can't I loose....
I am getting so mad at myself. I have been sticking to the diet and excersise and I just can't loose weight. Three days ago I decided to just drink protein shakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner and eat some protein before bedtime. I don't know if this is a good idea or not I am just desperate.... I still haven't lost a pound. I have 6 ccs in my band and I really don't feel hungry much. I've lost about 37 lbs but that has taken me 8 1/2 months., I'm now wishing I would have had the bypass or the sleeve, I was a self pay and now I wish I had my money back!!!! Any ideas on what I could do would be appreciated. Thanks...

The band can be tough, are you exercising at least 5 times per week, for at least 1 hour? Are you being totally honest with yourself? Are you a lightweight? Lightweights lose slower, are you tracking every morsel that goes in your mouth? If you are not eating much, you may want to get your metabolism checked, the band does not induce weight loss, but for many people if you keep your meals small and eat mostly lean proteins like chicken, tuna, fish daily you should lose weight. Also if you are drinking protein drinks make sure they have at least 30-80 grams of protein and not much sugar.
People that lose weight quick WITH ANY WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY whether it be the Band, RNY, or Sleeve, have one thing in common, they keep their calories -- from 600-1200 per day, they focus on proteins only, and drink water and exercise. Exercise can be brisk walking for an hour 5 times weekly, swimming, biking, running, treadmill at the gym, etc.
The only thing the band does not do is make you sick if you eat carbs or sweets, many Sleevers and RNY folks have reported they dump if they eat sweets or some carbs, this could be the missing link to help them lose quicker, but again, many people got the band to avoid those unpleasant side effects in the first place.

As weird as it sounds, is it possible that you're not eating ENOUGH? Just an idea from personal experience, I am SUPER carb sensitive if I increase my carbs my weight loss stalls almost immediately. Since being sleeved I have kept to 800/900 calories and under 40 carbs a day and the weight is coming off with some consistency now, where as before it was start and stop.
If you want, I started a support system on Myfittnesspals.com (website that lets you track your food, exercise and water) and it's been so awesome for getting ideas, looking at others food plans and finding support and advice when I need it. My name is tripmom02 over there, and I do a weekly roll call so that everyone can add everyone else and find new friends. Feel free to join us!
