lap band removal

I had the Lapland for 4 years now and it has eroded into my stomach.I have had it open and no saline for 2 years. I have to have it removed immediately. I'm not feeling comfortable with this whole thing. Worried about what damage will be done too the stomach. They want to remove it thru the esophagus. This isn't making any sense to me.

The pain has been terrible. I'm really nervous about this entire mess

I don't blame you for being nervous.  I hadn't heard of anyone getting it removed thru the esophagus before .  I have heard of them doing surgeries this way and they are coming up with better ways all the time.  I would ask how many they have done this way.
