Lap-Band for men

Hello,

New to the site and am wondering how many success stories there are out there for men?  I am finding it very difficult to find other men who have had this done.  I have my psych evaluation tomorrow and will hopefully be getting the surgery done within the first couple weeks of December.

I would really like to see how other men do with this, rate of lose, problems, etc.  Thanks!

There are nowhere near as many but they are out there. They tend to lose faster than women. Very unfair! But that happens with any wls. You might search for LowCountry, he is doing well.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

My letter carrier (aka - mailman) had it done 2 years ago.  He has lost over 100lbs and has kept it off thus far.  To my knowledge, he hasn't had any problems, and whenever he and I chat, he always says it's the best thing he ever did.

Thank you for the info.  I just found where you can put in different search criteria into this site and have found a few examples out there.  Again, thanks for all your input!

I feel I've been relatively successful. You see people who have dropped pounds like it's cool and you see people that drops a ton then hovers 20-30 pounds from their goal. I'm in the later group. One of the great things about the Lap Band is that while I dropped off almost completely in diet and exercise the Band only let's me drop off so much. Not to say that is good, just stating a fact in my case. I love my band. I do miss carbonated beverages i.e.. a cold beer or a diet soda.

I'm going on vacation next week and when I get back I'm gonna start training for a 10k.  My weight loss journey is that I lost most of my weight within about 6 months then plateaued for a few weeks then lost another 20 pounds. I've been stalled for a long time now by my own fault. Hoping to jump start my weight loss as soon as I get back from my vacation.  But even with me "falling off the wagon" I've maintained within about 5 pounds of my lowest.

You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was 100% effort that you gave --win or lose.

I would say 70+ pounds is pretty successful!  I really hope that I can achieve what you have.  I completed my psych evaluation today and the Dr. said that I passed.  So all I am waiting on now is my last weigh-in for my insurance on the 21st of this month and I should be good to go.  I am excited and ready to get this started!
