This is something that I have always suspected, but now the researchers are starting to look at obesity from a different perspective (physiology vs psychology).  It is a very small study, but it may be the beginning of a new era in treating obesity.

From what I've been reading, you may already have plenty of leptin, but something (like chemical or biotoxins has damaged the leptin receptors that are in charge of sending satiety messages to your brain, and no one seems to know if that kind of damage can be reversed or even halted.

Jean- I wrote you earlier about crafts when you worked at Janlynn. I accidently deleted your reply before I replied....I'm not that computer savy. Anyway, I looked up the Blessed Mother you designed- Wow!!! I knew you were a good writer but artistic/drawing- that is a wonderful design. As for your pond project have you considered going up to like 20 or 18 (or 16 or 14) count so you could do it easier? Karen

Karen I HAD to look it up too because I LOVE to do cross-stitch. Its BEAUTIFUL, Jean!! I had no idea you worked there and made your own designs too.  you dont have any of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemene, do you?  I've been looking for it in cross-stitch and oil painting.

P.S.  The cross-stitch below is one of my favorites that I have completed...waiting to be framed still:

5.0 cc in a 10cc lapband  (four  fills) 1 unfill of .5cc  on 5/24/2011.
.5 fill  March 2012. unfill of .25cc May 2012.  Unfill of .5cc June 2014.

Still with my lapband with no plans for revision. Band working well since

last small unfill.

Thanks, Jolena. Your angel piece is gorgeous!

I did do a Jesus design - not the Gethsemane scene but his portrait- but it was never put into production. Sandy Orton did a cxx version of the Gethsemane scene for Bucilla, but I don't know if they're still kitting/selling it. Here's a link to it:

Karen,

I've already stitched about 1/3 of the pond design on the 28-ct evenweave, and I don't think I could bring myself to start all over again on a lower count fabric, plus an already large design would grow as a result! My big pond design is about 16"x12"...the one below that I made for my mom is "only" 8x11...sometimes I look at it and think, "Did I do that?"

there have been people thinking this way for a while:

http://www.wellnessresources.com/leptindiet/leptindiet_home. php

nothing earth shaking here, actually a straight forward way to lose weight.

but they do sell leptin supplements........

Thanks for posting the study! It just goes to show our bodies are built to survive and God, nature or what ever you want to call it didn't intend for us to lead the lives we do now- sitting rather than moving.

This is interesting but actually kind of discouraging.  According to this, there's really absolutely nothing we can do to stop the regain.  So what is the solution?
