dumb question-post op diet
hi everyone--
i had my surgery on 10/20....and have been drinking the clear protein drinks (now known in my house as barf in a bottle), lots of water, a little gatoraide and one cup of herbal tea/day and a tiny bit of sugar free jello (i let it melt in my mouth). at what point can i introduce some skim milk, or one of the protein drinks (like vanilla unjury)?
the guidelines i was given was phrased as "week one/two". unfortunatly, i'm a girl who likes to hear "on day 7 you can have THIS".
thanks for any advice!

Doc's seem to reccomend different things. Mine had me on protien shakes right away- for the first week. Mushies the second week then solid food. I have heard people on here say there doctors had them on just clear liquids for the first week, then shakes. I had no problems at all. Hope this helps. Call your doc. office if your really not sure what to do. Congrats on your surgery.

Hey that's the same date as mine! I started the date after surgery on protein drinks and other low to no sugar drinks. I can also have skim ilk when mixing it with Carnation Istant Breakfast or in coffee. I will not be able to eat anything until Nov. 9th. I can have strained soups but no jello. I guess every doctor has different quidelines. So for me my line is on day 21 you can have this LOL!!!

I have a Realize Band -- and it was placed with no fluid in it.
I was on clear liquids for days 1-3 (I had out-patient surgery, so I went home by noon on the day of my surgery).
Then, days 4-7, I was allowed 'full liquids' -- anything that could be sucked through a straw.
For my doc, that was 'thinned puddings, yogurt, cream soups, protein shakes'.
Days 8-14 I was allowed 'mushy' foods --- tuna salad, egg salad, etc --as long as it was mushy and required basically no chewing.
At this point -- you are trying to get your band to 'seat' into position -- and you want your stomach to churn as little as possible ----
My surgeon gave me a 66-page booklet of instructions -- pre-op, surgery day and post-op ---- so I knew exactly what to expect.
