pre op diet
i didn't realize all of this, and actually i used the term bc my mom and aunt have fatty livers, and so i hear them say it all the time. i also had a dangerous liver scare with my pregnancy, the enzymes were not correct and they considered taking the baby early. it made me assume i have the same liver as my mom, but i suppose someone would have diagnosed me with that - rather than having me just assume. i wonder if that is part of the pre-op lab work?
Mine is one I'll never forget! For 30 days before surgery I had to drink skim milk 3x a day, all I could get down in 10 min. Plus I could have all the non calorie drinks I wanted the rest of the day. I only cheated a couple of times but man that was a test. From what I understand they still require this.
that sounds miserable. good attitude saying you'll just do it and get on with it. i, on the other hand, sniff around the boards to see what other options there may be! probably not especially safe, or respectful to my doc, tho. last time i was supposed to do something like 5 days of clear liquids and after one day i was over it. i came on here and a nurse shared her liver shrinking diet with me, and i made the decision to follow that instead. my doctor said my liver had shrunken nicely, and i lost 13 lbs. so to me, it was the better option. it is really strange to me how different the prescribed diets are across the nation. crazy. best of luck to you!
