disappointed, I've only lost 1 lb in 4 weeks!!!
I was so upset today when I found out I had only lost 1 lb since my last drs visit (4 weeks ago). I have been trying so hard to stick to the diet and excersising. They said that I needed to increase my protein and make sure not to drin****il at least 30 minutes after my meal. They gave me a 1cc fill which means I have 6ccs in my band.... any words of encouragement would be appreciated.
I have the hardest time not drinking after I eat. Or while eating. I'm 2 years post op on 11/25/11, and I still do it, but unlike for a lot of people, instead of just washing me food down, it makes me throw up. So needless to say, I do throw up a lot b/c I try and "cheat" in a sip or two here and there.
I wish you good luck. I lost weight in the beginning but I have to say I measured out everything and was very diligent. Now I stop losing and really find it difficult to focus. I don't excerceise for physical resons and never drink as hard as it is cause I will throw up. I have 2 cc in my band and next month will ask for a fill cause I feel I need it. But couldn't do this will a band so hang inthere. there hope ion the horizon for both of us..
Carol,
Just be patient and continue to do exactly what you are doing! I just went 4 weeks and lost 1 pound, and then practically overnight I dropped 4 lbs! I just kept doing what I was doing.
I don't know how far out you are. I had my surgery on 3/29. I figure if we keep doing what we're doing, weighing, measuring, drinking, exercising...we can't lose! Well I hope we can. :)

Try to look on the bright side of this which is you didn't gain a pound so that's always a good thing. I think we all go thru stalls and some are longer then others. I understand your frustration because I am a very slow loser compared to others and sometimes I wonder why I ever did this but then I think that what I have lost is more then I ever could befor I had my band. Don't give up and try to follow what they tell you to do and it will start coming off again. I know that sometimes I think I have gotten my protein in for the day and it ends up not being enough so I have to remind myself all the time to make sure i am. Good luck to you.

Everyone -- absolutely everyone -- no matter which surgery, how heavy you were/are, how diligent you stick to the diet, etc, hits a plateau. It's not anything you have done. It's our body's way of dealing. The one thing that is different is how long it lasts and what works for each of you to kickstart your body. Most of the time it involves changing something...eating more protein, exercising a little more, exercising a little less, switching exercises, eating more period (believe it or not), eating more veggies, eating a few more carbs...etc, etc, etc. You get the idea. Change some things up.
And the sweet spot is different for everyone and often difficult to find. You may not be there yet. Hang in there! Hope this plateau doesn't last any longer for you. You can do it!

Absolutely continue trying to stick to the diet and exercise. But do increase your protein - solid protein will keep you satiated longer and keep your cravings down. You really must follow the rule of not drinking with your meals or after your meals for 30 to 60 mins. I wait 60 mins because that means my foods stays in my pouch longer. It's something I've seen that makes the biggest difference with those who eat right - and wait to drink and those who eat right and drink. You're pushing your food down through the band so it's like you don't have a band. Try really hard to follow this rule. I set my alarm and really won't allow myself even a sip until it's been 60 mins. It's not always easy, but even at almost 4 years out, I feel this has made the difference between success and no success for me.
Plateaus happen to all of us. I always break mine with eating NO Carbs and only protein for 10 days. It kicks my weight loss in and it also brings me back to my pre-op days and why I got the band in the first place. Try it.
