Left side abd pain...PLEASE HELP

It has been nearly 9 weeks since my surgery.  I have to admit that the whole think went very smoothly.  I have also had my first fill (that went well, too).  BUT.... I have been having an intermittant pain in my left side.  Not near my port, but up higher...between my belly button and ribs on my left side. It seems to hurt when I stand up after sitting.  It almost feels like a cramp, but sharp, and then it kind of works itself out.   My doctor thinks it's muscle pain, but I just wanted to get some other opinions.

You're still healing. The stomach has been through massive trauma. (And that's where the stomach is... under the left ribcage.)

If it continues, though, I think you should get a second opinion. I had constant left side pain with the band, personally... from the left shoulder down to under my left ribcage.  Some people are very sensitive to having the band on the stomach. Hopefully you're experiencing this just because you're still healing.  I wish you the best. If you keep having this pain, definitely encourage your surgeon to delve deeper into it, OK?

Feel better!

Hi,
I have very bad pain around 3 weeks out and again around 9-10 weeks out.  The 1st round lasted a couple of days and once I got some miralax, I did a BM and all was good.  sorry TMI

The 2nd round was really really painful and I was getting ready to call the doctor.  It was just trapped gas and bathroom issues.  This time took some laxative tea and it got it all out.

I think it was that my body went into shock of eating so much dense protein.  Up until my surgery I was about 80% carb, 20% protein eater.

Try a mild laxative and after a big clean out see if the pain subsides.  If not  please make an appointment to see your doctor.

Edited to add**  the pain was exactly where you are describing your pain. On left side between belly button and up under ribs.

Denise, you're so right!   Pooping is essential!

Smoking a pipe while pooping is optional.

LOL.  My  grandmother put all the trouble of the world on BM's.

When anyone in our family said we had a pain anywhere in out bodies, Nana would always get this serious look on her face and say to us " how are your bowels"  good lawd

It's just a matter of time, I tell ya!

"Excuse me, Miz Clinton, have you taken a big poop today?"

I'm not sure I want to know the answers, however.
