I have an arugument going on here at home.. My hubby says to count calories first, then fat, then sugar.. I say all three matter.. What is it? Do you watch for the fats? the Calories? or the Sugars?.. What order do you use?  There is a dinner riding on this...lol.."Lucky:"

I never watch my sugars if you are watching what you are eating then sugar shouldnt play a big part in it . I watch my calories more then anything. Once again I think IMO that if you watch what you eat then you dont have to worry about the fat .

So I have to agree with hubby on this one if you watch your calories then then the others should fall into place .

Since surgery is the biggest addiction in the US I do watch my sugar intake because sugar plays a bigger part for some of us than carbs. I try to keep my sugar around 24-30. So on MyFitnessPal I count calories, fat, carb, sugar and sodium.

I watch calories, fat and protein. It's worked well for me.

Never counted fat, sugar, carbs. Or calories! Just know what is a healthy food and what isn't and have small amounts of the healthy ones most of the time.

So in effect, although I don't count, I suppose it is calories first!

I always try to keep my sugars at 5grams and under per serving.  this has worked well for me.  I can never finish a whole serving usually so the calories are always low anyway.

Never counted fat

Now that I am so close to goal I am watching the carb count in things.  If they are good carbs ie fruit/veggies I do not worry too much.

If i want to eat something totally crap and not good for me I don't count anything LOL

Remember, if you want to be a 155 pound person, you have to EAT like one.

I count Calories then protein and jus****ch carbs sometimes. I'm a big believer that natural fats are good for you and so I don'****ch my fats beyond making sure I try to do natural and healthy (nuts, avacados, eggs). There is a lot of research that a low fat diet can actually be bad for you.

Looks like you're going to get a big range of responses to this one!  I count calories and protein only but I try to not eat anything with more than 5 g of sugar per serving because I know that sugar causes carb cravings in my case.

I cut most saturated fats from my diet and try to use only the healthier fats like olive oil and avacado, etc.  My one splurge is that I do occasionally use real butter on my yams!   I also rarely, if ever, eat fried foods and use 1% milk so I figure by making these consessions I'm already eating a fairly low fat diet.  A body needs some fat so don't cut it out completely.  Just make sure your getting it from the most healthy sources possible.

Hope you win the dinner!
