I had a BOB and to be honest it hasnt worked that great for me. I have lost some weight but for me my results with the band have been completely different than my first surgery with the bypass. I know people are going to get mad at me for saying that but unless you've had both procedures you wouldnt understand what I am talking about. I dont want to discourage you, you may do really well with the band, there are several on this forum who have had success as a Bober but I want to prepare you that you probably wont see the same results with the band as you did with the bypass, at least that has been my experience. Good luck to you!!!

Jules, this is probably very true, the band has no malabsorption, so it's a matter of restriction only.  We the WLS patient is in charge of that restriction.  The band can do just so much.  I can easily eat past my restriction if I wanted to by "grazing" - I don't allow myself to, but I do know friends who do it all of the time.  The Band is the most difficult of all WLS -

What you posted Iam_with_the_band is sooooo true. One of the most difficult things for me to realize and change is that I was, and still am, relying too much of the band to keep me from over eating. Obviously, that was my problem with the bypass as well because even though I lost over 100lbs (no problem) I gained it back. I grazed and pushed my limits and got lazy with my diet and excercise. My hope was that the band was going to work like the bypass did and its totally different. Now that I am coming to realize that I am better off, now Ive got to get crackin and do what I need to do to use this tool to the best of my ability. Thank you for inspiring us with your story and insight Iam_with_the_band.

I am prepared for slower and probably will not get down as low as I did with bypass.  Dr  says it will be much slower but I am ready for that.  Thanks for the advise.
