Ok Im at my goal and Im three years this december post op.  I am thinking about having my port removed.  Has anyone done this? It bothers me and it actually hurts when pressure is applied or if I exercise alot. Any suggestions

I suggest you talk to your surgeon. I know that Allergen the makers of the LAP Band have a lower port that doesn't stick out so much. Would you mabe be able to get it moved? Finallly, aren't you concerned that after the port is taken out you would regain? Good Luck! Karen

I doubt any doc would remove it, they have to be able to access it in case of an emergency if they have to empty it for any reason. I would suggest you see about the newer low profile port, that has resolved the issue for most folk.

You'd want to have a way to access your band at all times.  if the regular port is bothering you, you can opt for a low profile one.

No way!  Don't even consider it!  It's a fairly simple proceedure to relocate your port and replace it with a lower profile.  If you're really feeling that confident I guess you could have your band removed, but not just the port.  If you have sudden tightness down the road and no port, the only option will be band removal and then where would you be without the tool that helped you lose your weight?
