excess skin question
I had brachioplasty done in January of 2009. My scars are still visible, but they are fading somewhat. I used some scar treatment stuff on them. I'm not sure it really did much, however.
My incision is under the armpit and down to about an inch and a half above my elbows.
For some reason, my doc didn't require me to wear compression garments, but I'd really recommend them. I think I may have had better results if I had worn them. Can't hurt anything to wear them.
Like I said earlier, the pain was nominal. I've had tons of abdominal surgery, a broken ankle that required plates, screws, etc... and the arm surgery was a piece of cake in comparison.

My upper arms were never going to firm up -- they were too stretched out from years of obesity.
I had reconstructive surgery on my upper arms and a breast lift a year ago (thrilled with the results)
I am contemplating a tummy tuck -- will have a consult next month ----
I am 53 years old ---- age, heredity, exercise all contribute to how well you 'firm up'
After losing so much, there was no way my excess skin was going to firm up! I opted for self pay plastic surgery and do not regret it at all. I have had 3 surgeries with 2 more to go. My brachio was probably the easiest of all and my TT/Anchor cut with LBL and butt aug was also very easy and almost painfree. My scars from the brachio can't be seen from the back or front. They are placed very well from up under my arm pit to my elbow. They have now faded to skin color. I am happy. Do the best you can with exercise and what you can't get done that way, you may want some surgery. We've worked too hard to not have the best result possible.
