Frustrated with the fill/unfill process
I had a fill on Tuesday. Today, everything I try to eat, comes back up. It is a different feeling than I've had before. Usually, it just seems like I need to get the food out if I get stuck, take too big a bit, etc. Today, there seems to be a lot of acid coming up with the food, and it's making my throat sore, too. I'm also having the burps after drinking liquids. WTH?! I can drink liquids ok, but I can't handle mushies and I am frickin hungry! I am going to stick to liquids for the weekend and if it's not better, bo back in on Mon. to get an unfill. Again. Which leads me to my frustration. The last several fills have resulted in me having to go back in a few days later to get an unfill because I couldn't even hold down water. I'm going to be pissed if I"m expected to pay my copay since it's not in the three days. I understand that the lap-band is a process, and it can take a while to get to the sweet spot, blah, blah, blah. But, it shouldn't freaking hurt just to eat. I've lost six pounds since tuesday, but I'd rather be able to eat healthy than lose weight so quickly.

I'm very sorry.
This is the exact reason I hated my band SO much. I couldn't eat solid foods ever. I lost weight... through starvation. Even with the band unfilled completely, nothing was going through. It's not healthy.
The pain was the number one reason I detested the band so much, but the not being able to eat was right up there, too.
Hope you feel better. Definitely get unfilled. Don't hurt yourself.
Take care.

I just had the same issue about a month ago. I hadnt been for a fill in a long time and was pretty much able to eat anything. I went and got a fill and came home I couldnt eat anything for 2 days and everything I tried felt like it was sitting on my chest. I went back two days later and he took a little less than half of what he put in out. I go home and now im back in the situation of having no restriction. So Im feeling a little discouraged. I mean I just want the restriction that the band advertised and I have yet to have that. Its either be able to eat anything or be able to eat nothing. Im not really sure what to do :( I hope all goes well and that you can get to that "Sweet spot" but I have heard that for alot of people there is no sweet spot. That they are stuck where I am which is to loose or to tight. I envy the people on here that can eat a 1/2 a cup of food and feel full. Thats what I was hoping for when I got this surgery but so far it has been a year and a half of dissapointment and depression good luck
Yeah I understand but when I chose the band it was because of flexibility. No, did think of it going both ways, put some in.... oh too much, take some out. However it is what it is. I still appreciate having my band options though at times unhappy with my band. For me, I accepted the good with bad. I was informed. Do I whine yeah. With all that being said, I hope things get better for you.

OMG i'm so sad that you are having such trouble with your band.
Have you spoken to your doctor about the side effects?
How many cc's do you have in your band?
I'm so grateful that I am able to eat and enjoy a fullfilling life with my band.
I get full pretty quickly, and I do get the stuck feeling sometimes.
However, I honestly would not want to be without my band.
It has saved my life.
Good luck!

I'm at 5.4cc in a 14cc band. I've had as much as 7.2cc in before I started having to go in to get an unfill. I'm beginning to wish I had chosen a different surgery because it's not worth all of this pain. Not only is there physical pain, but there's also the isolation that comes from not being able to eat around others in case I start throwing up. I haven't worked out since Tuesday because I haven't eaten anything that hasn't come back up and I'm afraid I will pass out. My surgeon is obviously aware of all of the problems as he is the one I go to for the unfills. I'm tired of getting sick when I try to eat, tired of the pain, tired of having to shell out a co-pay for absolutely nothing, tired of a lot of problems that have come with the band.

Oh my gosh! You've waited too long! You need to get an unfill. If you can't eat from tightness for more than 24 hours go in for a slight unfill. I know it's frustrating but the adjustments are part of the band game. I have had as much as 6.0 in my 10cc band but with 3 years of fills and unfills I'm currently at 4.8 with good, livable, restriction. No one can explain the changes over time but I've come to accept the oddities.
Please get an unfill so you can at least eat while you decide what you want to do.
Best~

OK, I'm going to tell you that you really need to get the band out. I absolutely dragged my feet and refused because I was so scared of regaining. And now I have SO many problems with my gut, it's ridiculous.
Right now, if you can't eat, you're in danger of becoming malnourished and anemic (I went through both, too.) You're at risk for damage to your diaphragm and esophagus if everything you eat is coming back up. I'm really sincerely sorry you're going through this, but chances are, it's not going to get better.
Maybe in trying to be honest, I'll get accused of negativity, but I'd rather tell you the truth than lie to make you feel better.
I don't want you to have to suffer! It CAN get worse, believe me. For a year after band removal, I had so much damage to my diaphragm that I sneezed for hours and hours at a time, passing out, even. I hiccuped for hours, too. And it sounds ridiculous, but if you imagine yourself going through it, you'll see that it's very debilitating.
Please take care of yourself and feel better. You need to be your own advocate. If you KNOW something is wrong, keep talking until someone listens and helps.
