Possible problems?

Had Lap Band Aug 26. Has anyone ever had their band spring a leak ?  I've had 2 fills so far and for the first 3-4 days I get that "full feeling" but after that I'm ravenous and could eat my arm.  I understand that it's quite rare but I know that there is always the possibilty of a defective band.  I called my surgeon and if I still have the symptoms he's going to schedule an upper GI.  I'm nervous as hell at the thought  of needing surgery again but if I do I know I couldn't be in better hands.
Just was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and could put my mind at ease(or prepare me LOL!)
   Thanks in advance

That doesn't sound out of the norm to me at all.  It takes a while (several fills) to get good restriction.  After each fill there is swelling and you will be tight for 2-5 days post fill.  Once the swelling goes down you may have more restriction but less than you did right afterwards or you may feel no change.  The surgeon can pull out all the fluid in your band and measure it to determine if you have a leak.  It shouldn't require an upper GI but if he wants to do one I guess he has his reasons.  How much fluid do you supposidly have in your band?  I didn't feel any long term restriction until I had about 5 cc's and over time that amount has changed.  I've had as much as 6cc's and now keep my band at around 4.8cc's with very good restriction.  However, everyone is different as many have 7cc's or more and are still seeking optimal restriction.  It's a tricky thing.

Good luck.  I hope you find comfort in knowing what's going on one way or another.

Best~

Hi Ada,

This is exactly how fills worked for me, until I reached the green zone. When I fianlly hit approx 5cc in my band, the restriction remained and didn't disappear after a few days. I am guessing that you aren't to the green zone yet.

Best of Luck to you,
Kim

Thanks all... I feel a bit better now! Being patient is not one of my strong points so I guess I'll just have to work on that.
Will keep you all posted after next week on my progress

I think OH's avatar upload edits photos to fit certain parameters, not always with good results.

There's nothing wrong with a wide smile in your photo, but there are 2 ways to get a better avatar.

1. Go to shrinkpictures.com and follow the instructions for creating an avatar.

2. Send the photo as a jpeg attached to an e-mail to [email protected] and ask them to size and upload your photo. You'll have to give them your OH user name and maybe wait a day or so because that work is done by volunteers.
