I ordered from www.unjury.com (they sell individual packets of their products, so I could taste them all)

I also bought Isopure clear protein drinks at my local GNC -- for the days post-op when I was on clear liquids.

I tried Muscle Milk and Muscle Milk lite -- both bought at the grocery store
I tried Carnation Instant Breakfast

Mostly, I drank Unjury or Carnation chocolate with a little coffee added in to mask some of the 'yuck' factor.

I was only on protein drinks for about a week --- my doctor's protocol has no pre-op diet, and moves from clear liquids to full liquids to mushy foods pretty quickly

Lap Band on 10/03/11 with

was banded 10/3 (seems like forever ago haha) i got the chocolate pre-made protien drinks and protien powder from Costco. i like them, i use the powder with skim milk in my magic bullet and it makes a nice shake, no clumps.

I used unjury as well.  I liked that you could buy the sample packs and try out the flavors and then I got the big jars of what I liked.  I did protien for about a month.  I really hate that chemical taste.  Unjury is also low in carbs!

My suggestion would be not to stock up on any one brand, sometimes after surgery our tastes change and something you loved before you will hate after. A lot of places have samples, and you can walk into any GNC and ask them if they have any current ones that they will make up for you to try in the store.

My personal fave is Maxx from GNC, but it's a big higher in carbs then some of the others so I try to only do one shake per/day with that brand, then I do an Isopure or (my new fave) Nectar for my second shake.

Every morning I mix five ozs of coffee with some sugar free syrup (flavor varies by the day) then add my already mixed protein shake to the coffee. So yummy!

Congrats on your date , Betsey! I could not stand the Muscle Milk Lite, and gave it away. I'm a chocolate freak, so pretty much that's my flavor of choice. I like the GNC Amp Whey shakes, and Lean Desserts, and I always keep some Atkins Milk Chocolate grab and go on hand and they are pretty good but expensive. I mix my mixes with vanilla coconut milk. It has a much longer shelf life than regular lowfat milk, and about the same calories.

Congratulations on your surgery!  I had mine August 17th and feel SO much better!  I like the Unjury chocolate and the chicken soup.  The vanilla is ok and the unflavored is YUCK!  I don't notice the chemical taste and try to drink at least one a day to get my protein in.  The chicken soup is very good mixed with low sodium chicken broth instead of water.  It really saved me and took care of that salty meaty craving you get when drinking a lot of sweet protein drinks.  I've had a lot of Atkins shakes in my day, but the Unjury is so much better!

www.unjury.com  the only one I can tolerate!!  The chocolate splendor is better than the classic chocolate...not so sweet!!
