Ticked off that this *still* bugs me

My mother called me tonight.  I haven't talked to her for awhile as it's been crazy busy around here.  So she called to chat...fine.  She's in assisted living happy and doing well...good.  Then she proceeds to tell me that she concerned about me.  She feels I'm posting about food too much on FB and she's wondering if I'm" gaining my weight back" because you know I look "so, so , so much better now"

This ****** me off beyond belief.  I really try hard to steer clear of any body/diet issues when I talk to her.  Because I know it's a trigger for me.  Yeah, tonight too late.  I calmly told her I was fine, not gaining (have been maintaining for the past year...).  It even made me go back and look at what I had posted, which were exactly 2 posts that were food related (one about eating apple crisp with greek yogurt) since the middle of september.  I also guess she didn't read the 4 posts in the same time period about walking/exercising.

And I'm pissed at myself for letting this bother me as much as it does.

I have issues man...lol

All of us who have had WLS have issues. And many of us have issues with people (especially moms) who criticize, no matter how they try to disguise their passive agressive remarks.  Some do not realize how much it either hurts or infuriates.  And others, well, they know exactly what they are doing.  Been there and I understand. Mine got better, and I hope yours does too.

You know what they say: "Choose your parents wisely!" ;-)

I would say just try to ignore her, but I know that's much easier said than done. :-(

Parents can push buttons like no others!

I think I would just blatantly change the subject and not respond to anything said about food/weight.

Well, thats what I think sounds good to do...when it's your mom it may be harder to actually do!

Hang in there,
Lindsey

Try to count the blessings in your life.

I only wish my mom were still alive to aggravate me.

Is it terrible to ask if maybe she is trying to trigger you? Does she have issues with you succeeding?

I'm curious because maybe she is looking for something to bug you about your weight. Maybe even if it was one thing about food it would have been her "in" to start a "conversation".

I hope that you just stay strong and forget her words and smile at how far you have gotten!
