I have to agree.  I can't imagine my doc saying he didn't know, but didn't think so, but wasn't for sure and the offering NOTHING...WTH.  Definately another opinion.

That's what I kind of thought. I think he didn't want to admit he might have made a mistake even though I know a band erosion is a possibility.  Seems like he could have done something!  He did offer to take it out and do the gastric sleeve (more money and I was self-paid the first time!)

Hi

You need to get that lapband out right away before it causes even more damage.  I had the lapband back in 2008 and started having so much problems like throwing up and severe chest pain.  I keep going to the Dr and went to the Upper GI and they said oh your fine.  I finally decided to go to another Dr to have the band removed and revised to another WLS.  When I had the surgery the Dr told me its a good thing I got the band out because it was sitting on my esophagus in a bad position causing all the pain.  Now he wants to see the Upper GI report because he wants to know why no one caught this and did something about it.  Good Luck.

I had the same situation. My doctor told me it was in my head, in spite of being in chronic, severe, debilitating pain. I was dying from a twisted stomach caused by the band and he sent me home.  Thank God I sought out a specialist who saved my life.

Some doctors kind of like to brush off patients with problems, I've found. I don't know the reason WHY, but I've seen it happen quite often. And it's really disturbing. Unethical, immoral and really crappy, too.

I'm glad you're OK, Sexyvt123. It's a scary thing to go through, isn't it?

Black and ugly? I had my lapband removed yesterday for erosion, but there was nothing black or ugly in there. I also wasn't very sick- I had a couple of weeks of chest pain that resolved on it's own. I didn't have any infection of the port.
Get a second opinion. I don't know if the band needs to come out, but the black and ugly thing needs further analysis.

My cousin & i got the lap band together.  She has never been able to loose weight, it has been 4yrs.  Today she had surgery to remove it & get the sleeve.  They found the band eroded.  She has had issues all along but never really sick.

I had my band placed in oct 09,first fill feb 2010, second fill in july 2010 that ended in infection at the port site.EGD done at that time but no erosion.Port removed due to continuing infection at port site in aug 2011.EGD done Nov 3,and an erosion was found. Now to set a surgery date to have band removed.Have lost a total of about 80-90 pounds since band placement.
