I lost relatively fast.

I never really counted anything but I ate around 1200 cals a day. I never counted fat, just didn't have much! And i have no idea how to count carbs.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I ate pretty low fat, but didn't count them. Only significant fat was from nuts and eggs. I ate lean meat like chicken, fish, pork loin. Also, lots of veggies. I also kept my carbs very low, probably around 20 a day. I lost weight very quickly, 107 pounds in 10 months. Not everyone wants to be that strict, but it worked for me.

I had WLS in February 2011, and thus far lost 85lbs.  Is that quick?   For me it is.

According to my doctor's rules, I eat the following:
- Less than 14 gras of carbs per serving
- No more than 7 grams of sugar per serving
- 60-70 grams of protein daily
- 3 meals, no snacks
- at least 45 minutes of aerobic activity daily
- at least 64 oz water daily

Now, with that said, he's not really concerned about me counting calories.  I log my food on www.livestrong.com each day, and on average, I consume around 1200 per day.

One thing that has helped me a lot - I bought a heart rate monitor to use at the gym (it is a watch and telemetry stap).  It also shows how many calories I burn.  I wear it each day, all day long.  It's a constant reminder not to go crazy with food.  When I reach for something, I see it on my wrist and it makes me think, "Should I eat this?".

Remember, to lose weight, it's calories in, calories out.  So, I shoot to burn at least 2000 calories per day.  In order to lose 1lb in a week, you need to burn 3500 calories more than you take in, which is 500 calories a day.  This has helped me out so much.  I would invest in one if you can.

Good Luck!

I only weighed or measured my food... 3-4 oz at a meal...

At my one year, I had lost 100% of me excess body weight... I was 243 day of surgery and at my doctors appt for my 1 yr follow up I weighed 141 on their scale.

No snacking... drinking 64 oz of water (only)... no drinking 15 mins before eating and 1 hr after eating.

Good luck

My loss was 'moderate' and steady.

I did not track for the most part, I just ate small, protein-filled meals

I usually started my day with a Greek Yogurt or a Lunabar (about 200 calories)
Then, mid-morning, I had a small piece of fruit or a low-fat string cheese (about 100 calories)

Lunch was usually tuna or egg salad with 1 serving of low-fat crackers and some sliced veggies
(about 250 - 300 calories)

mid-afternoon snack --- a piece of fruit or a piece of string cheese (about 100 calories)

dinner --- some protein, a little vegetable, a few spoonfuls of starch -- sweet potato or brown rice or quinoa (about 250 - 300 calories)

snack -- low fat pudding, or 1/2 a Lunabar (about 100 calories)

So -- I guess I ate about 1,100 - 1,200 calories a day -- and about 60 - 70 grams of protein)
I drank about 64 ounces of water a day ---

For MY experience, and that of my two friends who also had lap band surgery...excersize was the key!! I started going to the gym..switching up my cardio from elliptical to stair master to treadmill..I get off once I burn 500 or more calories. I totally blew my plateau away..and have been losing a pound a day. Went from 252 to 215..surgery was July 19. I was plateauing for over a month..but now I'm king butt!
