I am so tired all the time. When I get home from work I have no energy. I feel like I could fall asleep anywhere. I have never felt like this. I am not sure what to make of it. i think I will suck it up and call my regular doc. I haven't been to see her since I started the process because I knew she didn't support WLS. I think I need some blood work.
I have read all the post about hair but when will this stop? About half of my hair has fallen out. If it doesn't stop soon I will need a wig.
Any ideas or suggestions...

I wish I could help about the hair I never had problems with my hair falling out or if I did it was so little I didn't even notice.
As far as not having enough energy. I got the same way about three months after my surgery and it was due to the lack of calories and carbs. I had zilch energy. I was more tired after WLS then before .
I had to up my calories and my carbs . I was eating to low of carbs and almost fainted at my bowling league last yr . When i upped my calories and my carbs I felt so much better.
For me I can not eat anything less then 1200 a day and I have to have at least 50 to 80 carbs per day or I will get tired, light headed.
I dont know if this is your problem. If your calories are to low then I would suggest trying to add more for a couple days and see if that helps if it dont then I would call your doc and see what is wrong.

Bloodwork would be a good idea. However, I suggest you contact your bariatric surgeon for an order for it. The reason I say this is that they test for things that the normal family doc doesn't. In fact I try to schedule my yearly blood work from my surgeon right before my yearly physical with my pcp. He is surprized and impressed with what comes back. He lets the surgeon give me their interpretation because they know all the minutea.
Another suggestion is if you don't understand your results and how they affect you and what you should do, there are a couple of people on the main boards who are really good at this. Just ask for help with labs. Post every result because even things that most docs would call "in the normal range", may be a bit low for you.
Your surgeons office can send the order for the labs to a lab nearer you if your surgeon is more of a distance.
Good luck, Sue

I would just echo what the others have said re: blood work...Sue has the right idea with asking your surgeon for the blood work order since bariatric needs are a little different than regular labs.
You can always ask your surgeon's office to send the results over to your PCP for follow-up as well.
What is your daily intake like? Do you take any supplements? I'd be careful with SteelerFan's calorie/carb suggestion...she may have found what works for her, but most bariatric patients thrive on less calories and very little carbs in the losing phase, but again, everyone is different.
Best of luck and keep us updated!

Your body needs carbs.. tho not an excess amount and if eating a few bites of brown rice makes you want to a eat pie then that's different. If you have any hope of exercise you need carbs or you will pass out... carbs sustain your energy ...
But you do need bloodwork.. I had mine done recently and found out I was low in calcium which I was shocked to find out..
I never had a hair issue but I always ate very well rounded 60 grams of protein at least and 100 grams of carbs or less... 100 is max but I'm usually always under neath it.. but I work out at least 4 days a week.. on a good week 6 and not so great week 3 so I average about 4 days.

This is the story of my life..I see a thyroid doctor and alot of what you say can be that. She suggested months ago Biotin 5000 once a day. it helped me alot. My hair loss had been less and less. I do make sure I take my Centurm and Caltrate daily. As far as tired some days are worst than others. You really need to get blood work to see where you are defficent. Your body is trying to adjust to the weight loss.
